If Aussie Rules footy was an international sport and a real All Australian team was being picked, you wouldn't be loading up the bench with all midfielders.

Seriously, I reckon the All Australian team has lost some of its prestige over the last few years. But thats my opinion.

As always and as it should be, Finals footy will always be the truest and toughest test for players even though the timespan only lasts for 4 weeks (1 month), but thats when the Premiership is won.

How often do we see All Australian players or Brownlow medallists fall down during Finals footy. The pressure and expectation goes up ten levels.
Be interested to see how the crows go for this very reason

Based on who’s on it I think they legitimately just pick it on vibe and shit talking. Just imagine Pav, Bucks and Jacko all in a room together and tell me there’s intelligent discussion happening.

Worrell or Keane aren’t the flashy picks and have been severely underrated all year.

Judging by the bitching from a few here, so too Battle.

He has had an incredible year.

The AA captaincy is weird.

Most years it's the best captain but randomly they hand it to a tall (Cameron, Hawkins, Franklin, Rance) like it's a lifetime achievement award.

I would have had Worrell in for Battle & Elliott in for Bailey. Dawson absolutely should have been captain.

Rekon the fan votes team was a better lineup TBH.
Dawson was lucky to make the extended squad. Plodder.

I don’t understand the complaints about Naicos on the bench. He’s in the team. That’s all that matters IMO.

The starting midfield was absolutely stacked and some players in there were very very deserving. Happy for Nick to take a seat for once.
you wouldn't have said that if he didnt even make the bench

AA team by draft year and pick
2009: Gunston (29), Gawn (34)
2010: Cameron (GWS underage)
2013: Bontempelli (4)
2014: Heeney (18, academy), Dale (45), Andrews (61)
2015: Dawson (56)
2016: McCluggage (3), Battle (39)
2017: Bailey (15), Richards (16), Taylor (28)
2018: Smith (7), Clark (15)
2019: Rowell (1, PP), Anderson (2), Serong (8), Pickett (12)
2020: Thilthorpe (2)
2021: N. Daicos (4, F/S), Wanganeen-Milera (11)

Excluding Cameron, the average selection they went at is 20. Obviously Daicos would've gone #1 if his name wasn't Daicos and Heeney would've gone higher but then the avg is only around 19.

Grundy didn’t miss 3 games due to suspension. Also Grundy had a dominant half to a season and an underrated first half. Xerri’s dominant patch was like six weeks and I feel like he tailed off quite significantly after that.

Might be a bit stiff to be behind Jackson though.

By tailed off you mean the #1 ranked player in the comp for the last month?

Absolutely stinking decision, but not surprising.

The only player in the top 25 ranked players in the league to miss the squad and he was the 4th ranked player in the league 🤣

The only player who was #1 ranked in their position to miss the 22…. And he missed the 44 man squad….

But not better than Keane and Worrall who have been a huge part (possibly even the main reason) in why the Crows took the minor premiership.

Battle made the squad but he wasn’t in the 6 best defenders this year.

Depends on the type it’s not a howler Battle is top of the reverse Coleman. Worell is unlucky but possibly needs a season to get noticed.
