Max Holmes had a better season in 2025 than any Richmond player who has missed out on All Australian selection over the past decade. It happens. Take your tantrums back to the Richmond board where they will be endorsed and celebrated.

I wasn't that shocked to see him make it, because the bar for defenders was pretty low this year IMO. Sometimes an unfashionable, strong defending type does make it in like Maynard a few years back. I thought Worrel's intercepting would get him in, but it isn't a disastrous call. Every year a few players are simply unlucky. There's at least 6x 50/50 calls for each season's selections, which people seem to forget.

We have the best captain award already to highlight the best captain this year.

Ultimately no one really ever brings up 'he was captain of the AA team' as an accolade, it just does not matter.

I mean i don't necessarily agree with it i just don't think it is a big deal. Judging leadership from outside the clubs is pretty hard task.

If they want to give it as a token lifetime accomplishment type thing i think meh fine.

"Best first two years player" doesn't really roll off the tongue.

"Best player recruited within the past 24 months" hmmm we still don't quite have it.

"Best young player" eh, it'll do.

The limits will be tested when Geelong recruit a 32 year old VFL journeyman and he is All Australian in his debut AFL season. To be fair, we weren't too far off with James Podsiadly in 2010. He looked 35.

Gawn 8th AA selection. Amazing to think he would have 10 in a row if not for injury in the two years he missed out.

He was never winning it in 2023 with Grundy playing and a watered down role.

Only 5 teams conceded less points than Hawthorn in 2024 and those 5 teams were all within 30 points.

In all seriousness, there should be an instant dismissal of all selectors for choosing Cameron as captain over the 4 actual captains.

They have made a mockery of the role as captain.

It's a very ordinary selection panel & most have less idea than the average punter.
