Don't really understand how we're going to fill a VFL list next year. Sandy have a lot more salary cap than us so they'll probably be able to grab/keep some good players, and presumably all the other VFL clubs want to keep theirs too. How do we get enough decent guys to be competitive?

Sign up all of Nas' mates from Adelaide?

Once again Richmonds VFL players were far better than Sandringhams skill wise. Even their AFL listed players looked to have an edge on ours in skill and speed. Hopefully when the listed players start training permanently with our blokes it will make a big difference in lifting their skill and readiness levels.

Dodson BOG and will be the best ruckman in the competition in a year or two. He rucked against Simms and Kositchke and gave them a lesson. He is also so creative with the ball in hand he is like having another skillful midfielder playing. He should be brought in to debut next week and replace Heath in the senior side.

Carroll's stats were impressive with 34 disposals and 13 clearances probably his best game at the club. He is leaving his run late to impress and will be under pressure to get another contract. He is another of those players who is completely expressionless when he plays, you wouldnt know if he is loving of hating the game.

Hastie had a ripper his game has gone to another level in recent weeks. He is so courageous at times very Jimmy Webster like.

OConnell is learning the midfield craft and finding a lot more of the ball with 19 disposals to finish the game.

Shoenmaker keeps improving by the week and kicked an absolute monster goal that would have been 70 metres out.

Keeler looks to have bulked up and was holding his ground a lot better in contest. Some of his tap work is Ryder esq.

Travaglia continues to improve he just needs to fill out and get some muscle on that skeleton and we will be able to impact games a lot more.

Barrat ended up a lot more involved in the game than he has shown throughout the year, I would still love to see him play forward for a week or two.

Eamon Armstrong is quite remarkable given how little he has played the game. Physically he is a ready to go product and by the time he learns the nuances of the game we will have a serious player on our hands.

Paddy Dow would/should be delisted if he doesnt have another year to run on his contract.

Collard is an absolute must TRADE, he is far too speculative and I doubt he ever makes it. Trade him and get what what we can while he is still worth a decent pick.

What does this even mean? Don't tell me you have a problem with players not smiling like clowns during a competitive football match?

Agree with all the more positive comments though

I’m glad others are seeing it with Dodo. He’s going to be a star. I really hope we rethink our ruck strategy. He’s going to come on a lot quicker then people realise. He’s playing at a level that usually take guys 5/6 years to get too. It’s absurd.

Spells the end of Boyd me thinks

You can have around 10 players? outside our Afl list i think?
So, l think some of those Sandy boys wouldn't mind being in our vfl team for the added exposure.
.
Campigli & McKenzie have been quite consistantly good

Your comment/question just highlights how little you know about actually playing the game. But to answer your question it means that he doesn't get involved emotionally in the game ie any push and shove or express himself physically in any way. You never see him get excited and congratulating team mates or communicating with other players, remonstrating, talking to umpires etc - hence expressionless.

Also I couldn't give a flying continental whether you agree or disagree with my comments, I dont need your commendation on anything thanks.

Unfortunately everyone can see it, so they’ll be coming for him from all angles. Even in the equivalent thread on the Richmond board they’re saying they should trade Dodson in if we get TDK, after seeing him tonight.

Not sure that throwing the kid in the deep end is how to let him learn the game. Also puts a massive pressure on the players around him to cover for him.

Sandringham have only won 3 games and their season is shot.

If Eamonn plays in Sandy's last game next week that will make 4 games.

Maybe just use the off season to teach him the game and then bring him into the vfl next year.

Emmonn only arrived recently.

I spoke with his parents for half an hour just over a week ago. His technical skills are quite good already. They indicated what he most struggles with at present is reading the game and knowing what to do, where to run etc.

While the club is teaching him offield as well, actually playing games of football is going to help him hugely in this.

This will then set him up better for the remaining of training this year, and then preseason and then the VFL Season next ear than if he started 2026 without ever playing the game.

Keeler looks like he put on 5kgs on his time off

I cannot vouch for that.

But Keeler has since his last senior game commenced additional weight training, aimed at making him stronger in the contest, on top of the normal training than he was doing.

So even if he not yet actually heavier, it may be making him look more toned.

Dodson is tracking absurdly well. Do we think he'll be content to be backup for Carlton's good-ish ruck for the next 7 years and then finally get a regular gig at age 26? Or will we lose him for greater opportunities in a year or two? Because we obviously can't play a 1.7mil player in the VFL, or as a third forward/support ruck.

Totally agree - now the rationale of grabbing TDK when you have a kid like Dodson coming through is questionable. Give Dodson another season or two he will go past TDK and Marshall. I would like to remain loyal to Marshall and bring Dodson through and then look to spend the TDK money somewhere else. I guess if the club are planning to trade Marshall recruiting TDK will make more sense.

As it is evolving we now will have a greater need for other positions eg another damaging small forward and strong marking key forward. The irony is two years ago I was screaming for the club to take Patrick Voss after he was delisted by Essendon. Have a look at how he is going now and how he has changed the attitude of the playing group at Freo. He is the classic alpha male we desparately needed!

The club are madly trying to turn Barrat into a key defender, but from what I have seen in his U18 games he would is much better suited to the 2nd or 3rd tall forward. He kicked 30 odd goals for Bendigo as a Full Forward before the Vic Country coach used him in defence at the champs. I guess then on clubs requests he played the remainder of the year out at Bendigo as a defender.

In any event if we wanted a key defender at that point in the draft I would have been all over Noah Mraz now at Hawthorn. He is taller a better mark and more creative than Barrat and I strongly believe will become much better at the next level than Barrat playing defence. Although both have been injured this year I would be trying to get Mraz out of Hawthorn and Lewis Hayes out of Essendon. Both kids are behind a number of quality players at their clubs but have big futures as the key defenders and I would be prioritising them over chasing Leek Aleer.

Unless he has trade interest Heath should get another year as a backup ruckman.

A couple of cheaper recruits might be Jacob Wehr wingman and Josh Fahey prolific HBF - GWS. Fahey is a bit of a wild child but if a club can sort him out he is an exceptional talent.

Lucky we have Steeley Boy, the expert 😂

Boy oh boy. I don't think I've ever come across anyone in my life with a more false opinion of their self 😅

You're a good comedian though, mate 😍

I didn't watch the game. But have some questions about Dodson, and this isn't supposed to disparage his performance, but Jacob Koschitzke had a monster game stats wise. Which doesn't necessarily mean all that much but that's why I'm here to find out.

Was Dodson matched up directly against him? Did he let Kosi get off the chain? Or were the goals kicked when Kosi was forward? Regardless, looks like he might need to work on quelling opposition influence a little bit - which is not a major issue.

It looks like Dodson is tracking well to be a gun in the future but I'm pretty wary of VFL form when Ben Paton can get 30 a week and Jacob Kozchitzke can kick 4 and have 26 possessions. He is arguably the worst player I have seen at AFL level in 2025.

If I remember correctly, Koschitzke kicked three goals in the first quarter playing exclusively (or mostly) forward. Again, I could be mistaken, but I believe he moved into the ruck more in the second half due to Tom Simms getting injured. Dodson was fantastic and I wouldn’t downplay the performance, but he smashed Tom Simms (who is a first year tall forward) and played well against an experienced AFL body in Kosi.
