Unfortunately everyone can see it, so they’ll be coming for him from all angles. Even in the equivalent thread on the Richmond board they’re saying they should trade Dodson in if we get TDK, after seeing him tonight.

It really seems like we have a high potential gun on our hands but are so fixated on TDK that we can't see what's under our noses. Like Luke Jackson we should have him in the senior side pumping games into him.

The fact that I dont rate akaifu's opinion and back my own comments makes mine 'false opinion' right.

Mate you are the expert forum clown 🤡 -

Ex - Has been
sPert - Drip under pressure.

Im convinced you clowns dont even watch games let alone Sandringham, you just belong to the forum to carry on like trolls.

😂😂😂

Don't worry about dickheads on a forum. Weird that people get upset when they read other's opinions. They want a happy clapper church where Stavro gives his sermons about how brilliant we are and they all sit there with mouths open in awe.

Dodson has just turned 19 you nongs and still needs to strengthen up to build a body to compete against seasoned gorillas

Boyd out ... TDK in .... no need to get rid of Heath

Keep developing Heath & Dodson with occassional games in the seniors if TDK or Marshall get injured or need a rest

Does Dodson need 7 years? Because that's when our 1.7mil ruck will be done with his contract.

Seems ideal to get a handful of games supporting Marshall next year, getting a regular support ruck/third forward gig in 2027 and then taking over as full time ruck in 2028 when Marshall will be winding down.

Yeah there doesn't seem to be any reason to not have Dodson playing in the seniors. Usually with young rucks, they take a while to grow in to their body, so they are at once gangly and easily pushed off the ball, while also being uncoordinated.

Dodson doesn't seem to have those traits. He is already a unit, but not in a puppy fat kind of way, more in a solid body, and strong core kind of way. And he is amazingly agile, particularly below the knees and with his hands. His ruck work will probably need work once he goes up against the Gawns and Xerris of the world, and you wouldn't want to be relying on him to be taking more that 20% of contests, but he would not look out of place in our 23 IMO.

Get him in, see what we've got. I'm all for TDK but we might find ourselves in an awkward position in 2-3 years if the Dodzilla continues to improve, and we can't capitalise on him because we're paying TDK 1.7 a year

Must say I was all aboard for TDK until seeing what Dodson projects to. WTF can we do about it now though? Have to go ahead, get TDK and trade Marshall. Dodo as 2nd ruck.

Stay sorry but your form doesn't warrant $1.7 million dollars.

Play him deep forward with runs in the ruck. Max Heath has made us look more structured. Last match we just didn't know how to kick inside 50.

Young ruck Alex Dodson was a dominant presence around the ground in Sandringham's 41-point loss to Richmond on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old notched up a game-high 41 hitouts alongside six clearances and 31 disposals.

Midfielder Jack Carroll was wasn't too far behind for best afield honours, gathering 34 disposals, 13 clearances and four tackles in the loss.

Former first-round pick Tobie Travaglia (21 disposals, eight tackles, three clearances), Angus Hastie (23 disposals, six marks, three clearances) and Liam O'Connell (19 disposals, seven tackles, six clearances) were also in the thick of the action.

Arie Schoenmaker was lively, collecting 18 disposals, six marks and a goal, while Isaac Keeler (five clearances, 10 hitouts), James Barrat (16 disposals, five marks) and Lance Collard (10 disposals, five tackles, five clearances) also contributed a goal each.

Veteran defender Zaine Cordy (17 disposals), midfielder Paddy Dow (17), and rookie defenders Angus McLennan (13, four tackles) and Eamonn Armstrong (seven) were other Saints in action.

can someone explain to me how we lose by 7 goals to a team with only 6 afl listed players?which judging by stats only one had a blinder, one a first year player and another a mid season pick up & the other 3 got 31 disposals between them, can only hope that the 9 or 10 sandringham listed players are 9 or 10 beer bellied mugs from the saints big footy board to justify losing like that,to that

I don't know if Stavros sermons are what does it, but when I picture this forum, there certainly is a large cohort of slacked-jawed oxygen thieves sitting around looking stunned with their mouths open......

Some guys take 5-6 years to come good.

Lance has only been in the system <3

If the coaches are still happy with him then I would persist.
The trouble is its normally the rucks that take 5-6 years , not a small forward

Yep , the kid is big enough and strong enough to play so why not , other rucks have played at his age that weren't as developed as him

Sh*t coaching, and a bunch of Sandy players who are barely VFL standard. There's a good start for ye

That’s a mirror dude.

It’s not shit coaching. Look at Jake Batchelor. 1/2 years at Sandy. Moves to a real club and boom , success.

We won’t invest in VFL players.

One thing I was thinking with the Saints vfl team, our recruiters will be already looking for at a lot of players. Some wont get drafted and we may have some question marks on them, but they would be perfect to bring into the 2s squad and get a good look at them

one slight downside there is that there is nothing that gives us priority access to recruit them if they come good. and so guys like Durham, Max Hall, McCarthy etc are fair game and will be picked off by other clubs in the MSD

must be hard for the Hawks to see the player Hall is becoming after developing him through their VFL program, intending to draft him mid-season, only to have another club keen and fortuitously below them on the ladder at the time

haven't really thought this through, but maybe if we had a nationwide reserves comp then every club could have a reserves list and be given the ability to promote player(s) prior to each draft period. strengthen the bond between the 1s and 2s and hopefully attract some decent talent to the comp
