How long did it take DC to become a quality AFL Ruckman? Around 6-7 years. Steene isn't going to be ready by year 3/4.

I mean ready for senior football

He may never be a great ruckman. But with the hypothetical midfield we're discussing, we don't need him to be

The problem is he’s still two years from being adequate depth let alone a below average number 1 ruck. There would be half a dozen better options out there in that shit truck capacity and at least 3-4 at a similar age to Steene who would be better long term options.

In a scenario where we keep Cameron we’ll need to add at least one other ruck over the next two off seasons with Cox right at the end and they’ll likely be a DC type early 20’s option who’ll walk in ahead of Steene and Smit.

That Gold Coast hitout was telling. They played 4 different rucks that were all too big for him to compete with. If he ever makes it, he's miles off.

If Smit has a good year Steene maybe gone. I wouldn't be keeping 2 development rucks on a list if Cameron goes.

Steene in his 1st Season when not Injured he can take a Mark and Kick a Goal up Forward

Non restricted free. Aleek Aleer from gws get in his ear now stuck behind taylor and Buckley. Promise him playing time and money so every emg named sells him more and more.

Footywire suggests he’s not a FA, restricted or otherwise, just out of contract this year. Why does he qualify for FA?

I know he has ****ed knees but Collingwood need to be in the conversation for Allen.

Eagles are only offering 4 years but he wants 6 years. If we were after a player like Doedee, who was coming off an ACL, I don’t see why we should steer away from Allen.

If the reports from over the summer are correct, it sounds like he's got the same degenerative knee issue that ended Tom Langdon's career. No thanks.

Yep, than he’ll end up at Brisbane or Hawthorn and end up playing till he’s mid thirty

I'd add Geelong to that list. Those 3 clubs won't be concerned about a speculative degenerative knee.

Doedee doing his knee again doesn’t make this the strongest argument 😂. A KPP with Allen’s history is a concern IMO given the potential cost

Curnow had a supposed bung knee. So did Hogan. There's a few clubs interested in Oscar. I'd be more concerned if he was a running type player

Agree. I'd rather go for a young fit gun mid & key defender. They are our real needs.

Channel 9 reckons we should go after JUH. I tend to agree.
Well we thought we had a super tall, athletic FF in the works…
I think from a list management pov, it then allowed us to chase another mid
Now we need to be considering FF (and West eventually the Checkers role further up the ground)

I’d love to get Cadman but think way too expensive
The time to throw the farm at him would have been after his first year

My biggest priorities are a midfielder and a key defender, however, if you can get someone like JUH at a reasonable price, it would be remiss not to consider it

Could not agree more,

If Darcy Moore goes down we have Frampton, Dean and Cochrane who doesn't scream full back to me.

If Naicos goes down we have options but really it is getting thin when it comes to talented youngsters. IMO I think Allan, Long, and DeMattia don't fill me with great confidence, happy to be wrong.

But it does show that both there are some clubs willing to take the risk.

Beauty about Allen is you can throw him down back until one of MMM retires. He’s pretty handy in the ruck too.

Is Leppa our list manager now?

Who is/are our draft talent scouts - Derek Hine's role?
