If we did happen to lose Maynard maybe we should go after Bodie Ryan, cousin of Jakob Ryan. Similar players but Bodie seems to be a more one on one defender than an accumulator/rebounder and seems to have that Maynard dogg in him.

I rate Bodie. The kid can play.

How is Busslinger going in the VFL? Even without him, Dogs have surplus tall defenders at the moment.
Had 19 disposals, 8 marks yesterday.
He's apparantely close to a debut

Going to be tough to crack the Dogs defence. Lobb and Jones are quality. They rate O'Donnell and Khamis looked really good against us.

Yeah I think it was a battle between him and Khamis to play on friday. Khamis won out.

He was good Khamis. I'd be keen if he doesn't get enough opportunity when ODonnell and Jones are back.

The guy I would look to nab is Alex Ramsden from Hawthorn. He was a mid season pick. A forward/ruckman. I think he has a lot of potential.
We still have a chance with Condon, Steene and Smit to fill that sort of position. I don't know Ramsden but is he a good forward?

Not sure that Busslinger and Khamis would be playing for the same spot. Khamis more that 3rd up intercept player while Buss is playing as a genuine key defender as far as I can see. Lobb is also 32 and Jones 34, so there’s definitely a need for them to have quality tall defenders coming through to replace them both, possibly Jones by next year.

I think at this point Condon shouldn’t be at the front of mind in forward planning. It sounds like he’ll probably stay another 12 months in the US at a minimum if he doesn’t get drafted this year.

I don’t think Condon will be available. Or at least for a couple more years.

Our VFL ruckman are very young and will need time.

I think Ramsden has potential and could even just be a forward of the future.

If Maynard leaves for $1m a year over 5-6 years and North finish 15th - what compo pick will we get?
After our finishing position on the ladder. So we have a good year, could be anywhere between 14-18
Would go where our original first rounder would be, before we traded it for houston.

Compensation for Maynard should be band one if the offer is 6 million over 6 years. Let's say we finish 4th it should come after our first pick which the GCS have - Currently pick 15.

But let's say for argument's sake the wheels fall off and we finish 10th then it would be after pick 9.

Kind of begs another question what we do with that pick.

If McGuane falls around the range of 10-12 then our pick will get eaten up. We could trade in to 2026 or use it as bargaining chips and trade it for a player.

If he is 10-12, we would need extra points so could use it in a trade but would need to get probably a second rounder back.

We currently have the worst points out of any team atm
515, with the 10% discount thats enough for pick 30

If he's pick 10-12, we'll need around 1,000 points.

Agreed, who knows with what might come up regarding points. Hopefully we can use the first rounder for Maynard and match comfortably for McGuane.

Steene and Smit both looking good to me.
From what I have seen from their VFL performances they are both a couple of years off.

I understand Smit is new and Steene is always injured is somebody who goes to training or the VFL games able to compare both players to senior players?

We’ll use it in a package for Rowell
