All good, we can look forward to a good decade or two of the AFL throwing draft picks, academies and all sorts of special allowances at the Devils in just a couple of years.

I know mate. It's going to be hard to compete against them in a few years. I look at our depth, and even poor old Caarton and it's miles off
The afl obviously want success for goldy gws etc to draw bigger crowds. All well and good but in two weeks when Melb play freo and there’s 5000 people at the mcg it don’t look that great.

Now I feel sick in the stomach, forgot about the 2 headed devils

It's becoming a worry. GWS for example have about 6 players in the VFL who would be handy for most clubs, GC are the same. Brisbane have been lucky with father sons and have another top 5 midfielder in this year’s draft
They've got the balance way out of whack with the academy rules. They're going to create juggernauts.

Draft advantages play out over a decade and a half. We're only just beginning to see the maximum benefit from the very early years of the acadmies with Heeney and Andrews at their peaks - and it's been a significant advantage - but nothing compared to what we'll see over the next 15+ years when a far higher number of academy kids are peaking.

Don’t think they get it as good as Suns and Giants
Yeah I think so too. The Suns and Giants have a huge head start on them. I just worry that these clubs continue to get handouts whilst the overall talent pool isn't enough for the rest of the competition

Brisbane and Syd dont need such big academies. It’s a joke. They are well established clubs, with huge success in the last 25 years.
And the same likelihood of getting father sons as everyone else.

But the academies are really about growing AFL fans and a supporter base as much as they are about anything else.

Jack Ough. He will help us maintain our funny name quota when Sidey retires.
“Jack’s Ough his game today. He’s not pulling them in as well as he usually does.”

I could only imagine the giggles in the commentary box if a “Cox, to Jack Ough” play occurred.

It actually is. I get in for free and the parking is taken care of.
As an NDIS recipient myself your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated. Particularly when it’s something that you’d probably prefer not to do… watch Carlton.

He's a great bloke, it's a pleasure working with him
