I don’t see what the carryon is with that article. I’m always up for clipping Ralph et al nonsense, but this one is a no brainer. His contract for 2027 will be based on triggers and it doesnt automatically roll so he’d be a FA next year if he so chooses. I didn’t agree with the timing of the Naicos extension this one though is a no brainer given his career UFA status.
I’m annoyed at the article not because it doesn’t make sense, because it does, but because it’s Ralphy once again seemingly trying to will something in to existence based on… not much at all?

I’d be interested to know the ratio of Collingwood-other clubs articles he’s written this year. It feels like he’s coming out with a Collingwood piece every day or so at this point, and has been since pre-season. It’s actually become an obsession for him to try to will his opinions on us in to reality…

Rowell to Collingwood is feeling more and more likely every week.

No idea how we get it done.

Can get it done easily, we have a F1 and an FF1 if we need them although the word is they want a player involved if it goes that way.

Can we put Lipinski in roller skates and trick them into thinking he's a fast winger?

unless you can guarantee McCarthy or Mcguane is a first round 🔒 we can’t trade a F1 unless it’s into the draft

Didn't it come out just recently that he'd want to play at an MCG tenant and a good team at that? Feel like that just about only leaves us and the Hawks (assuming they're one of the four)
That was on the basis if he left and was choosing between vic clubs.
Essendon I think were one of the clubs.

Essendon, Geelong, the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood,

If they want a player it’s their responsibility to recruit one, and either do a 3 way trade or use the currency from the trade to do their deal. They should have a good idea of where they stand by now and be working on bringing in a player if they think Rowell is set on leaving.

Expecting a contracted player who likely doesn’t want to leave to be a part of any deal from the destination of Rowells choice is amateurish.

"They haven’t been told definitively, but they’re pretty sure having been given, I would imagine, a good vibe by his manager Tom Petroro now.”

Ahh, an article based on a vibe!

Exceptions can be made, the AFL have done it before. The restrictions are there to stop lower and middling clubs from trading themselves in to oblivion, I doubt they’d take issue with a top four (potentially premier) team doing it.

Who was the last player 6 years into the system a top 4 club got special permission to override the draft rules?
Port with JHF but he was only at north 12 months so that was granted. But it’s pretty unlikely it would be approved in this case

But won’t matter too much soon enough given clubs are of the indication he is staying

Jack Lukosious. Literally last year. Port got permission to trade their future first for him, despite not using first round selections in 2022 or 2023. Got Berry last year. No first rounder this year.

That’s 1 in 4 years, top 4 club, special permission granted. There’s literally no reason why they’d allow Port to do it and not us.

Unless Jon Ralph takes over that job at AFL House, of course.

God that ****wit is more relentless than a crack head on dole day with Collingwood
Ralphy - Collingwood need to pay all their plays heaps more so they can't recruit and have to shed a couple as well as letting Bruzzy go for some matching points

They got JHF in end of 2022 in the trade which was the exception. Luko wasn’t the exception. Given his age- was only 12 months removed from being the number 1 pick he was classified as part of the rules as using a first rounder.
They got berry in 2024

I can tell you how…
“We just went to the top of our list…”
