Love to see the pies snag Buku or possibly Jai Serong.

Frampton aside from a couple of games has had a really good season IMO.

He and Moore have both looked really good with Howe there providing coverage.

I think Buku/Jai could play that Howe role, even play alongside Howe next year and have crisp, perryman or Q spend more time up the ground

Camaniti?

team america vomit GIF
There it is

Do we have any trade currency for Merrett?

He’s right there for the taking, not sure Dons will want to deal with Hawks, they’ve absolutely blown this up for Essendon and made it untenable by leaking it.

Hard to imagine, unless they rate someone like Allan bizarrely highly

It’d probably have to be a Bobby back to WA = first rounder + some other pieces.

Not sure what else we really have, but he’s right there.

We don’t want a high (trade) price mid like Merrett, certainly not at his age, I wouldn’t think. Even less Petracca, unless he came much cheaper.

I think (and hope) the club are gearing up for a Butters / Rowell level recruit via FA instead.

Wow the Merrett situation has deteriorated badly:

  • coach talking about how he renegotiated an existing contract to earn more money, and he wont be traded
  • CEO/Redman/others coming out a saying how disappointed they are that their captain is talking to other clubs
  • talk that he wont even attend the bnf
  • former players (Stringer, Hind, Voss) posting smart comments on social media

Def won't be there next year.

Hope Essendon hold firm. The amount of egg on the face of their coach, CEO and board would be dramatic if they fold. They gave themselves no outs and didn’t even mention “unless godfather offer”

The club has been seen as weak in recent times, if the 3 most powerful roles in your Footy club are that steadfast they simply cannot trade him.

It will also be good for the league! It will be the first time people really think about allowing clubs to trade players anywhere which is simply required at this stage.

It will stop all this shenanigans about highly paid players demanding to go to specific clubs and doing drastic measures like not going to the bnf knowing he will get to where they want. “How pick 1 or 2 sound for Merrett west coast?” That’ll shut him right up

Even aside from his team mates , the average Essendon supporter's attitude towards Zach is GTFO. Hard to see him there next year.

I wonder if we have any candidates this year to delist and re rookie like we did with AJ and Oleg last year?

HDM?
Ryan?

Butters might go in his free agent year, but it won't be as a free agent. Port will match and it'll be a trade. Same with most of the genuine stars.

Sam Mitchell has done this to Allen and Merrett now.
Harming their reputation and putting them in the hole by leaking meetings info.
He has a tactic of trying to break the existing bond to get them over.
Will become toxic very quickly.

Fly did it with JSOS, celebrating a date, which I didn’t like.

Hopefully TJ comes through a good pre-season and can step up next year.

They’re seemingly wedging themselves a little by making him unwelcome. Weird to see
It’s an odd approach allowing the players to speak…

The only currency we have is our 2027 1st so we’d have to move someone. Hill is the only currency on our list that we might be ok with moving on. I don’t think Hill + 27 1st works because Essendon probably won’t be relevant again until Hill’s career is done. Best case might be Hill for a prospectively good 2026 1st put those together and they might bite.
They'd be asking for Josh Daicos + a 1st rounder
No they wouldn’t. They know Jaicos and Merrett have similar if not the same trade values.

Essendon always overvalue their players

There is talk he wont even go to the Bnf

I don't see how he can go back to essendon now. Feels untenable.
It'd be awkward AF going anywhere near the club now. He's crapping in the litterbox that is the Hangar on his way out the door.

That’s the public perception of Dodoro. They’ll be more rationale under the new regime. I think the most likely way it plays out is they won’t put a price on his head preferring the chasing clubs to make their best offer. I expect the only scenario they let him leave is if he doesn’t nominate a club and he goes to the highest bidder that he’s willing to play for.

The old schoolers like Cornes loved the Scott interview. But jeez that was inflammatory.
Don’t have to scratch the Scott brothers too deeply to get to their inner prickly bastard. Hard to imagine Fly behaving similarly
