Cool story, they’re never getting that sort of currency no matter who they deal withThey'd be asking for Josh Daicos + a 1st rounder

He seems best as a third tall forward tooKhamis has got to be the most overhyped oppo player on this board.
He’s not actually that good.
Isn’t there a farm in Collingwood?Apart from G.Ablett Jnr anyone else think of big names leaving the Cattery once they get there?
Wouldn’t mind poaching Biclavs to Pies

Isn't there some type of petting farm for kids in Collingwood?Isn’t there a farm in Collingwood?
That’s the one. Why can I picture kids patting Biclavs ? There are a few others, but they would be in roofs and private. Not our scene.Isn't there some type of petting farm for kids in Collingwood?

Tim Kelly.Blicavs is ancient enough to slot right in.
Chapman, Stevie J, Varcoe, Stokes & Christensen all left from that 2011 team, off the top of my head. Seemingly all their small forwards now that I think about it…
They can ask all they want, they’re never getting that much, especially given how toxic the relationship between he and the club looks to have become.Merrett is better than jaicos and contracted and captain. I can’t see them letting him go without asking for a huge return
And possibly Merrett’s manager set the house on fire to see if can get out of Dons even with contract in hand. Would he hard to keep him based on status of Captain over most other things. Then if he doesn’t turn up to Crichton night which he’s likely to win. Fuel the flames even more. They can ask all they want, they’re never getting that much, especially given how toxic the relationship between he and the club looks to have become.
Leigh Colbert was captain of Geelong and left for North. And possibly Merrett’s manager set the house on fire to see if can get out of Dons even with contract in hand. And wasn’t there either a best and fairest of Captain that left an afl club in the 90s? Not Carey.
Yeah that’s the oneLeigh Colbert was captain of Geelong and left for North.
And older and actively trying to force his way outMerrett is better than jaicos and contracted and captain. I can’t see them letting him go without asking for a huge return
The ones with the ant over lords?Ah, just give him an ant farm![]()
It was a bad match up from Nicks - similar to when we had Billy on Gunston. Gunston is too smart for smart defenders - let alone Keane or Frampton. He's not a good one-on-one defender. Could never defend a leading player. Good intercepter, though. Can get by with that most of the time these days, as teams are so good at filling leading space and working as a unit. Exposed last night.
Which is weird, because last year people were fawning over Keane, he's a useless as my AA chip.It was a bad match up from Nicks - similar to when we had Billy on Gunston. Gunston is too smart for smart defenders - let alone Keane or Frampton.
If I was Essendon I'd be telling Merrett you're either staying or we'll agree to trade you to anyone but Hawthorn for an appropriate offer.
Grow some balls.
Hawthorn have pick 7. Not sure anyone else he would like to go to would have anything like that. The best they can get would be from the hawks... Unfortunately. If I was Essendon I'd be telling Merrett you're either staying or we'll agree to trade you to anyone but Hawthorn for an appropriate offer.

He's good. But he has brain fades and his style of play is a lot like Darcy Moore, so there are times that he's very gettable.Which is weird, because last year people were fawning over Keane, he's a useless as my AA chip.
Gettable and useful are very different. He's good. But he has brain fades and his style of play is a lot like Darcy Moore, so there are times that he's very gettable.

It feels too far gone for him to walk back there.Essendon already can't afford to lose Merrett next season. He's their best player and worth far more to them than any pick 7.
IMO the only thing worse than losing Merrett would be handing him to the very club and coach that approached your contracted Captain and instigated this situation when your at your lowest ebb.
That's allowing yourself to be punched in the face twice by the school bully.
As it stands Hawthorn are about to play off in another Prelim. They've won 4 flags since Essendon last won a final. Many Essendon fans would count them as their most hated rival. Hard to believe it would be a difficult sell to your members if you told Hawthorn to GAGF.
As for Essendon themselves, they already have two top 10 picks in a draft seen as weak. They need ready to go senior players more than another pick and that's even prior to the possible loss of Merrett.
I'd be taking a lesser pick or no picks if it meant gaining a higher calibre of player/s in return.
At the end of the day I just don't see how Essendon folding to Hawthorn of all teams possibly improves the culture within it.
He's your Captain, he's contracted and you hold all the cards.
Stand up to your bully and start standing for something in the process.
