Can’t imagine Petracca going interstate.

Feel like we are into him, but only on the right terms, so we are not making our interest known.

See hawks with Merrett, they have made him embarras himself in front of the football world, now they will feel compelled to get a trade done.

If we can get Petracca, but pay him less than $950k/year and not have to give up a future first, then it would be a no brainer to do it.

At the end of the day, I can’t imagine a new coach would want to start his new tenure with a player that doesn’t want to be there. Like in the business world, the best time to rip the Band-Aid off is at the start of the tenure.

Bailey Smith by the length of the Flemington straight. He’s not my cup of tea, but the guys a walking billboard that leverages his brand like no one else. I wouldn’t be shocked if his relationship with Hembrow is fake just to grow their followings!

You're probably right. Smith is footy's Beckham. He's got the look and sex appeal to cross over beyond sport. Nick's got the potential to be our Jordan, but footy related apparel just isn't going to ever be streetwear.

Possibly, but it depends on the $’s. My theory was 2 years at $600-700k at his age would trigger band 5 which is looking like it’ll start around 50-55 then come in as bids pile up. Alternatively if it looks like there wouldn’t be any compensation I’m sure he’d be open to being traded for a pick in the 50’s because he doesn’t have to leave as a FA. I doubt the Dees would quibble over that.

It'd come down to what King's thinking. In a way he's in a similar position to Fly when he took over - low expecations but still a lot of talent at the club. The safe way would probably be to lose Petracca and drop expectations even further. No one is going to get on the coach's case if they lose Petracca and are seen to be in re-build mode. I think you'd have to have a crack though with all the players they still have. Keep him and go for glory. It's riskier because if it doesn't work, he'll be in trouble - a couple of years in and going in to re-build then.

I cant see Nick leaving even if its a Godfather offer for the ages. Peter has grounded both brilliantly. You cant buy culture, love for a club, family legacy and mainly a packed MCG most weeks. It may happen but hes a different type of young kid. Mature beyond his years
