As much as I reckon he'd love it (and the Pies-loving Jiath family would be stoked), I'd say moving for opportunity means he's less likely to come to us. No way we could guarantee him regular senior footy, which the Blooooz could do.

I find it odd that Perracca reportedly wanted to come to us last year but now wants to go elsewhere?

His preference last year was the Hawks. But because his request to leave came too late in the season Hawks had other trades and $$$. He and his Mgr. reportedly thought both Blues and Pies would be in the mix this yr. He was right with one of us. Reported in the HS today that he likes their list and is happy to move. Who knows if this is true.

Pendles has exploitable weaknesses - if his offensive impact drops a bit he's in trouble. If Howe is fit, he'll be able to play a defensive role for a while yet. The risk with Howe is injuries. With Pendles and Sidey it's footy and them gradually becoming not quite good enough as they gradually lose a bit more speed and flexibility.

Yep and people have been telling me that about Pendles since I was in primary school and I am now in my 30s

WIth the exception of steele, the other 3 have been part of mediocrity for a long time.

They probably have seen enough of the clubs leadership to make a projection on the likelihood of success of their vision.

Honestly, I hate Mitchell and his arrogance, but if all it takes to get a contracted, best player out of an opposition, is to set up a meeting, have them request a trade, and have that player then sulk it up in an effort to burn bridges, then we should consider adding it to our playbook.

Merrett will have multiple suitors, trade him anywhere but Hawthorn and show some backbone.

If he refuses all other offers then tell him what day and time the Essendon preseason starts. Call his bluff.

Essendon are going to come out of this looking completely spineless if they trade him to Hawthorn.
