in the age, it says Dees have a 3 year offer on the table for Mihocek whether thats 2 + a trigger, its unknown) but that he'll wait until after the season is done to make a decision.

If they’re offering 3 years then good luck and thanks for the service Checkers.
3 years is bonkers given his age and increasing susceptibility to soft tissue injuries.

How so? We literally got one small/medium defender that wanted and can play mid in Pez last year. What’s one more going to do? Don’t see why Flanders’ spot in the midfield would be guaranteed over Perryman’s, unless I’m really missing something with his potential.
He'll be leaving to play midfield. It'd only be with us if he's willing to bide his time.

This. I would be pretty disappointed if Elliott left (Morris reported today that Gold Coast have finally come to the table with a two-year deal, same as us). But three years for Checkers is crazy.

Keep Elliott and let Checkers walk.

Love the bloke, heart and soul, unfortunately he is beat up and will only get worse.

3 years is insane.

Anyone who watches this bloke knows.

Simpkin on decent wages, for sure. Would give us inside midfield depth and his age is right in the sweetspot. Problem is he's on star wages, and a star he aint.
He has been shuffled all over the place by Clarkson.
Like what Bevo did to Smith, as a full time midfielder he’s a gun, and you’d back him in.
But as alluded to his wage is just too high.

I don't think you can tell. They're often playing through an injury. Tex looked cook about 6 years ago and thengot his body right and played some great footy. Pendles looked cooked at the end of 2018, but he'd been carrying a back injury. Hodge had a year when he looked done way before he was.

I recall Pendles first was born around that time? I think he had a form slump connected to the birth of each of his kids, cos he's a decent bloke who pulls his weight at home.

Yeah - Pendles looked cooked seven years ago!
He's incredible.
That's longer than many players' careers.

So I was right about the 3 year offer then.

I can't imagine the contract being less than 600-650K per year.

Realistically we probably are looking at a pick that is towards the end of the second round.

How are weak clubs supposed to build towards success if their good players just jump ship before they can build enough list depth?
I think when the next CBA negotiations comes around, the AFL may strongly push for clubs having the ability to trade a player without their consent.

In exchange they can offer an increase in the percentage of their revenue share.

The trade balance has tilted a fair bit in the players favour, this will really reset it.

It will also make players think twice about rushing to sign long term contracts and also asking their club/forcing a trade.

2+1 is different to 3 years outright. If he doesn’t hit his triggers he doesn’t get his third year…we could do the same

What’s a star salary these days? I reckon he’s a pretty good on baller, plays well against us each year. I would take him if the salary cap penalty isn’t too destabilising.

Caminity should be a priority.

Buller and Trac next on the needs based pecking order.

Its well overdue. Ive been saying this for years. Players have far too much power. Sign long term deals - often front ended then demand a trade with 2 or more years to run on it. Disgraceful

Going forward, and in light of the salaries of players like Perryman, I'm happy to concede that the rumoured million per year is no longer absolute superstar money under the increasing cap.

But there's a compound effect with a contracted player on that kind of money. As the club skipper, with something like 4 years left, I'd imagine North would want a fair bit in exchange. Add it all up and it seems too rich for my blood.

If we did get him though, I'd also see him as a mid only (which seems to be what he wants too).

I wouldn't say that. It's sounding like a salary dump to me.

He doesn’t get up and down the ground as effectively as he once did, still has a lot to offer and hope whichever way it goes it’s the right direction for Checkers. He’s put it on the line for us, time and time again. Been a wonderful servant and maybe it’s his time to bring in few more rewards for him and his.
