I reckon Dear will push Lewis out.

If so we should be going hard after Lewis, as he is only going to get better (post ACL) with another preseason under his belt. Pretty much the perfect combination with Larkey as he is more of a contested marking threat.

While we are at it, we should be enquiring about Jiath too. Playing VFL at the moment, and didn’t even make the emergencies list this week.
Would love both. Would you do both for our 2026 First?

From Clarko's presser.

When asked about our interest in Jake Lever and Macrae meeting with JSOS.

Many years ago Toll and Patrick had a joint venture rail business. (Going by memory here...) The two partners had a big board room blow up. The CEO was not renewed and there was a standoff. Both parties wouldn't let the other appoint a new CEO. I recall it got to the point where one party said 'we simply can't find a CEO now in any circumstances, anyone willing to apply for the CEO job would be seen as lacking in judgement for walking into this disfunction, to the extent that they would instantly disqualify themselves for showing such poor judgement'. (I can't recall how it all worked out).

This strikes a chord with me when thinking about any incoming player options. We are in such a bad position, with such an extended period of terribleness, that any recruit wanting to move to us would almost disqualify themselves because there would have to be an unworkable weakness in what they bring.

(Not serious, using this dark 'humour' as a coping mechanism).
Great segue for Kyle Langford, who is apparently open with his desire to leave * and join North

Good strategy, let’s bring in Mitchell too, pump up the average age and then ask for priority picks next year as we need to inject use. Brad would do it.

a second and third round pick that require trading and a couple of rookie spots.

that is what they should get this year.
I take your point, however there is no point giving compensation like we received if you’re expecting it to be effective.

Second and third round picks are 50/50 whether they make it and it’ll take a couple of years to have an influence, and if you have to trade them every other club is aware and it’s hard to get face value.

The rookie spots help but again all that gives is a player or two that every other club has overlooked.

The main thing we got from our compensation picks was the scorn of every other club supporter and lazy journalist.
