Just play Dawson Comben and Matlock. It might mean we lose every game but in the long term it will pay off. We wasted this year playing Logue and Pink. We can’t afford to that again.

Nah, we shouldn't expose Dawson or Whitlock permanently to senior footy until they're physically ready. Shouldn't compromise the development of those 2 and Goad out of desperation and a reaction to past mistakes.

Pink and potentially one of Corr or Logue can cover in the meantime. Playing tall kids at AFL level before they're ready compromises rather than promotes development.

Pink cops it around here but I think that he's fine. He goes well enough. A couple of players got hold of him but he's a 31 game key defender and even the best get beaten, sometimes.

Comben can finally lock in on just being a defender for the first time, so hopefully he can improve his one-on-one technique.

The issue has been the structure, both the plan and the execution. Along with the lack of athletic mid-sized defenders and physically impactful HBFs, wings and midfielders. Mid-sized defenders like Archer are very underrated in modern defensive structures.

Too often we zone up and there'll be a triangle of Powell, Stephens and Daniel (or similar). A random bloke from the crowd could probably out mark those three in a 3 on 1. You can have a couple of players like that but there's a tipping point where you end up with them near each other too frequently. We have about 10 of them on the ground at any one time.

Goals are the only thing that matter. How you get them is interesting but not particularly relevant.

Fun fact: NMFC had more tackles inside 50 this year than the minor premiers.

That said goals weren’t enough to get the dogs into the top 8 either

You have to understand that there are posters who prefer to keep Rawling above team performance.

I'm not one of those. He's made enough mistakes to go, but it'd also be good if those criticising the recruitment of Corr, Logue or Pink could actually come up with a decent and realistic alternative that we could have drafted or recruited.
They were likely the best options we had at the time that we could get, but in the end they are C graders.
The contracts were too long in length, but I guess you have to pay to get them to come.
Biggie and Kal, yep that's fair game, not really key backs and not very good. That's wasted list spots in the end.

So the options are really do nothing (guys who have signed on would be disappointed to not add any players like others teams) and go with the young draftees, recruit fringe players from other clubs (like a Jordan Butts) or the state leagues (like your MSD Jacob Blight type), or head to the draft (draft a Blake Thredgold).

Kostanty and Banch would be on the bench...l would even look at RHJ and Payne in the next tier of smalls..

I'd agree with that generally and in regards to Whitlock and Goad.
I think Dawson at least has shown he's got the body to compete.

He's not far off size wise, but still building his game overall. I reckon 2027 is probably when he'll be ready to hold down a full time KPD spot at AFL level.
But if he's ready to do it next year, all the better. We can get both Logue and Corr out of the side, run with Pink, Chom and Shotty.

Dawson will be ready as the 3rd tall defender with another pre season - it Weill be his third - and if he isn't ready we haven't done him any favours.

Matlock not yet - he will need another 12 months to get his weight up to scratch.

This means we will need one of Louge, Corr and Pink to see us through next year - and surely between the 3 of them we can get one to play a consistent brand of defensive football (I will back Pink out of these 3).

I think the words you are looking for ....attracting players to North is difficult....and you would be right about that.
