Not worried at all about Croft only 19 year’s old and is playing game 14 at state league level. He has also kicked 6.1 for the year developing nicely

While often the extra numbers double or triple team the guy

Today we came across a team stacked with genuine talent. They were too quick, too big and far better skilled than our players. The margin should have been close to 20 goals. Our listed players generally tried hard but were swamped by numbers all over the ground. Hardly any of the VFL listed players contributed much at all against such class.
L Jones got a bit of the ball late but was just a battler.
Baker got a mountain of stats but his delivery was often poor. Poor guy was under constant pressure from so many forward entries to defend.
Jacques sometimes found himself marking Brown which was a steep learning curve for him but he did a few nice things.
No questioning his endeavour but Gallagher is a very scrappy player even at this level..
A Jones was reasonable on a wing but too small and not consistent enough to impact the game.
Poulter looked dangerous on occasions as a forward from limited opportunities.
Croft struggled today but the delivery to our forward line was rubbish. Think he needs to lead more to create some space for himself.
Duryea battled hard against great odds but he too turned the ball over several times.
In a thrashing such as that it's hard to predict if any player showed enough to be promoted. So, steady as she goes for those in the firsts.

Footscray has added five players to its team ahead of a Saturday afternoon clash with Collingwood.

Nick Coffield will play his first competitive hit-out of the year, while Cooper Hynes, Luke Kennedy, Josh Dolan and Diesel Moloney have also been recalled.

Liam Jones, Jordan Croft and Josh Kellett will miss through injury, while Tristan Maple and Ted Middleton have been omitted.

The five inclusions mean up to 13 AFL-listed Bulldogs could feature at Victoria Park.

The first bounce will be at 2:05pm AEST on Saturday 3 May, and be live-streamed via the AFL website and AFL Live Official app.

The VFLW Bulldogs will play at the same venue from 10:05am, marking a Dogs’ double-header at Victoria Park.

So now Croft is out injured again. Anyone know what injury and for how long?
He just needs some continuity for the sake of his development. So frustrating.

As usual the weekly injury report doesn't cover these - we have to wait until team announcements to find out the new injuries. I accept that some, like the Jones calf strain, may have happened mid-week and therefore weren't known about when they published the injury report on Tuesday.

Anyway the team looks solid despite the injuries (and the usual random positions). Kennedy back is good.

I'd also like to know what injury Croft has.

From memory, his Dad struggled with injuries throughout his career. Someone will have to remind me, but numerous hamstring injuries comes to mind.

Wasn't he previously getting full mid minutes in the VFL?:think:
Yes he was - however he has been rotting deep forward in the AFL for three weeks & coming on as sub. Definitely a good experience for him but I think it’s important to get more mid minutes which he can get in the VFL.

You're correct, Crofty snr had a history of bad hammys.

I think Croft’s body just needs more time to develop & adjust to the rigours of AFL. He gets doubled teamed most weeks would take a toll.

The AFL will only fund the VFL for 18 games with teams from 3 states flying every week. The AFL clubs want their VFL teams to be playing up and during the AFL finals so players are match fit to jump into an AFL final if required. Hence the 18 game VFL season is stretched out as long as possible, hence lots of byes.
This is the only post I have ever seen that makes any sense of this issue
