Even if he played a beauty of a game it would make no difference IMO

Playing Gardner ahead of Buss vs Hawks says more about what MC and Bev think of Buss than Gardner

Until he gets better defensively and stops disposing slowly of the ball he won’t get picked

I’d say he’s the best AFL-listed key defender consistently playing VFL and someone could want to bring him in as cheap backup.

Pink was great against Curnow last week. No way Gards gets a game over him.

Gardner has been brilliant all VFL season. He has been a brick wall.

I am not in favour of this, because I think it could cost us games in the process. However I think if he had a block afl games 5-6 he’d cement himself in his current form. We also have to rejig the structure.

Jaques developing nicely in a new role. I’d love to know why they’ve moved him to wing / forward when he was drafted as a defender. Wonder where they see him long term, or if this is just to add a few more layers to his game and ultimate will settle in defence.

I'd say it's the latter. Alot of those who were playing back today will also likely not be there next year.

Would have said no at the end of the VFL game where Garcia dropped off in the second half and missed a simple goal. However after Mc Neils game and quite a few big games in a row now, Garcia couldn't be any worse than Mc Neil and could possibly be better

I would have thought Dolan is ahead of Jaques for the small fwd spot, Dolan does need a few protein shakes to be more effective, but his vision and kicks to space in the fwd line has be good.

Not sure of stats but wasn’t as visible as previous weeks. Looks like he is going to be very good. High skill and good decisions but didn’t knock the door down this game. García did again. Next best were Poulter (he even showed a bit of aggression that has been holding him back) and Gardner / I reckon he had 8 marks to half time.

Jaques really plays a position of need with JJ in his twilight of his career, Clearly not locking down that position, and Sellwood just got here.
We need another rebounding defender, with intercept marking abilities as Coffield's body not holding up.
This also frees up the Fridge up off the half backfor more midfield time, and after 4 goals against the Swans, more attacking options.

Certainly in his ruck craft. He still needs a lot of improvement as he ended up getting well beaten by Ladhams around the ground.
