As much as I like him, I can’t see him ever playing AFL unless English gets injured. Jordan Sweet 2.0, when our ruck depth is too good to only be depth.
Significantly better around the ground than Sweet and only 19

A powerful 115-point triumph sealed Footscray’s 11th-consecutive win and propelled the Bulldogs to the minor premiership for the second time in their history and their first in four years.

It looks like AFL.com considers us to have won the minor premiership in 2021 so I will take it.

can adz play in the finals?
Off one VFL game? Lol how ****ed up would that be if they were the rules. 😂😂

You might be getting confused by the rules if the senior team is still alive.

Only way he plays VFL is if the Bombers walk on water Wednesday night.

Josh Gabelich said he can play in the VFL final series

The rule (based on an article in 2019 so apologies if it has changed): If a player has played an AFL home and away match after the 1st of July, they must have played at least six VFL games during the season to remain eligible.

Given Treloar has not played any AFL games since the 1st of July (last played 22nd June), he is completely eligible.

Does that mean Harmes is as well? He last played AFL in June. Or is there a rule about too many AFL games as he's played 13.

A bit of background on our week one opponents (Frankston).

Frankston returned to the finals in 2024 after having a horror run in the VFL not having previously participated in finals since 2008. In the 15 VFL seasons since their previous finals appearance, they won the Wooden Spoon six times (2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2019). If that's not bad enough, in 2017 they didn't compete in the VFL due to their dour financial position.

On return to finals last season, Frankston finished 10th meaning they had to qualify for finals outside of the traditional way. They scored 16.7.103 to win their Wild Card match, where they became the 8th seed to take on Southport in the Elimination Final. The Dolphins' Elimination Final score (again scoring 16.7.103) was actually the fourth highest score in the 2024 VFL finals. Unfortunately for them, they conceded a mammoth 195 points.

Frankston have never won a VFA / VFL Division 1 premiership. The closest they have come was in 1996 & 1997 when they won the minor premierships but lost consecutive Grand Finals.

The Dolphins' 2025 season has to be acknowledged and commended for a team who has one of, if not the worst, histories in the VFA / VFL.

It's actually impossible to find an official record but this is consistent with what I've found from previous years. Keep in mind that this is from ChatCPT so it could be incorrect.

''For the 2025 VFL finals, the primary eligibility requirement is for a player to have played in at least one VFL Senior Grade Home and Away Match during the season. Additionally, any player who played an AFL Home and Away Match after July 1st will be ineligible for the VFL finals unless they have played a combined total of at least six VFL Senior Grade Home and Away Matches in the same season.''

It's mind boggling that it appears that Treloar has qualified to play VFL finals. It's possible that Khamis is good to go as well.
