Arty Jones has a lot going for him. If he can maintain his trajectory, I would love him standing next to Sam Darcy and West on our Full Forward line.
Jones showed enough last year. It’s the staying uninjured part that’s stopping him from being a regular.

Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for the full VFL replay to be up on the AFL website?

Seemed strange to only give him the one year considering he is still only 22.
Maybe he wanted that to prove he is worth a longer contract for a fair bit more. Contracts work both ways

L.Smith chose a one year deal earlier in the year so definitely possible.
100% the right call for both given security of extra years probably not needed:
  • Smith: as a quality VFL ruck, he pretty much has 10+ years basically guaranteed to be on an AFL list, so better for him financially to keep signing short deals as he’s on the improve.
  • Arty: backs himself in to improve and get a chunky pay bump in 12 months time, and failing that he’d probably still get a 1-2 year offer back home with West Coast.

Hynes is (listed at) 190cm and Poulter is (listed at) 194cm (but it’s all neck). When they were all giving high-fives on the weekend I thought he looked closer to Poulter than Hynes so I’m going 193cm. Imagine a world where clubs just properly recorded this info.

Its his wonky disposal that stops him from being a regular.

I like his energy and speed around the ground, because it's an obvious point of difference with the guys currently playing as small forwards. But until he cleans up his disposal he'll remain on the fringes.

I think Duryea gets at least a week, likely 2. The only thing that might help him is he wasn't facing his opponent and getting held / stopped from getting to the ball, doesn't mean you can whack the bloke, but may allow for careless / accidental instead of intentional.

Yeah it looks like it might have been a fend off that caught his opponent in the mush and the Frankston player put a little mayo on it. I'd still give a week but it was clear that the Frankston player was the instigator in the push and shove.
