The last time our captain was out with a season ending injury, we won the flag.
Not saying it will happen again, just that we should be able to cover for him.
who can be our cooker hinkley basher captain? No one has it in em.

The sad thing is it may have been the last time he played with Butters, depending on how Connors rehab is.

9 on injured list means maybe only 12 AFL players will play for the Magpies.

Already 4 long term injuries - ie most of the season and Ramm still 5 or 6 weeks away. Starting to rack up injuries to best 25 players.

Injury list
Jacob Moss (head/neck) - concussion protocols
Mani Liddy (groin) - TBC
Connor Rozee (hamstring) - TBC
Tom Cochrane (hamstring) - 1 week
Miles Bergman (ankle) - 1-2 weeks
Harrison Ramm (ankle) - 5-6 weeks

Sam Powell-Pepper (knee) - 8-10 weeks
Josh Sinn (shoulder) - 5 months
Ivan Soldo (knee) - season

I thought Marshall's ankle seemed worse than Bergman's in real time.
So did I, re his ankle. With good strapping and a week's rest he should have been okay ... but they mention heel bruising. That can be nasty, coz there is no way to strap it, cover it, or whatever. I have had that before, and it is hell to put any pressure on it until healed.

it is disappointing about the injuries

but one bright side is the mid-season draft:-
  • we should get a pick for Soldo- (hopefully a ruck)
  • could we get a pick for Sinn - (hopefully a young KPD)
  • if Rozee is better after pick 17 - 18, do we put him out for the season & have another pick

the positive about having several picks mid-season is that we can get who we want, concentrate on Dougie Cochrane & young (without paying the Draft tax) and maybe trade out some late 2026 picks into 2027 to give us a chance of getting all the F/S & NGA from that year

Can we stop filling our list with mid season draft chaff. The hit rate on these players becoming regular first 23 has to be incredibly low. The only ones worth looking at are players like Ramm who are young and were injured in their draft year. I'd rather save the list space and speculate on some sliders with later picks in the national draft.

MSD becomes critical to aid list builds through the Tassie years.
