Jonty Ralphsmith saying on Twitter it's a Lisfranc injury out for the medium term.

I shouldn't be surprised with our luck. It's seemingly standard operating procedure for us to have draftees spending big blocks of time on the sidelines during their key development periods.

Thredgold is correct, has Plantar Fasciitis done for the year apparently...
That’s a shame but I guess he was never playing seniors this year anyway so a chance to add more ready made depth via 2 SSP players

Becker makes even more sense now as one SSP

Write up from GL

Managed to get down to see the first half of match sim training this morning.

You'll notice in a few of the pics the sheer talent we have around the ball. It was exciting to watch them work together to feed the ball out quickly and surge forward.

If there was one clear statement being made during this session it was "move the ball on fast, always".
Lot's of players running for the follow up possession.

the game was heavily weighted towards kicking rather than instinctive handball with players preferring to run, dodge and crash into opposition players rather than give a handball that would just put someone under pressure. This was very evident in LDU's game. He was electric and constantly moving. Kicked a sweet goal from the pocket too.

Some of the other stand outs were to be expected.

Sheez and Colby were dynamic with both hitting the scoreboard from fast, decisive crumbing work in the forward 50.

Early on Souv was marking everything and gave Shotgun Dawson a great battle.
But some of the others were also looking great.

Stephens was fast off the half back / wing making decisive, accurate disposals.

FOS was the cleanest with his hands and looks ready to show the AFL world why we rate him so highly.
Hardeman has added some solid muscle to his arms and shoulders and was very busy running from half back all the way into the forward pocket hitting targets.

Goad held his own well against Xerri and at times looked ready to grab the ball and charge forward using his electric speed. Had a couple of scoring opportunities too.
LMAC was very solid, some great spoils.

Curtis did Curtis things from strong marking, great tackling, accurate short hit up kicks and hitting the scoreboard also.

Chom was spoiling well and taking some good intercept marks too and Logue was mobile and seems to have got his leap back allowing him to impact packs better.

George Wardlaw came off at the end of the first quarter and went into the rooms with a trainer and from what I could hear he "felt something". He rejoined the sim in the second quarter but then came off and was running laps. EDIT: Being reported as a hamstring issue and going for scans however he did come back on and play so I am not sure how accurate that reporting is.

No sign of Thredgold or Brayden George but Archer was there with crutches.

All in all a good workout for the boys, it's always hard to gauge how well they are really going when both teams are playing the same game plan but we looked decisive and our kicking accuracy was pretty good.

Honestly in fairness this is some of the better quality ball movement I have seen on a sim. Moved it quickly and accurately where they could.
I thought there was a few more sloppy dump kicks out of the backline towards the end of the game but probably to be expected with tired legs and first full run.

Gee there are some good looking supporters in the background of a couple of these shots :moustache:

Thought the same. There was a clear plan and style (from both teams). A lot of attack but much less handball happy for the sake of it. Still working it through in close at times to get the outside disposal, but usually just to get free of contest rather than running it through the ground. Felt more like players took ground with kick or run which made it much zippier.

McKercher in the guts is interesting, all talk has been off half back again. Assume it's a 'someone has to play there' thing given he was in orange?

A few have mentioned him but credit to CCJ, I know not even an intraclub but he honestly competed well. If he can just stay available after a torrid run maybe he will be valuable ruck depth and possibly more.

BTW: That non cropped photo of LDU from the club site, him against Logue and honestly looks just about as big. Just a monster mid now. He was absolutely slicing them apart in the middle today and looks huge. I feel like they've decided to just roll the dice on him being the best he can at what he is best at and put the team around him to feed off of it.

PPS: Was that Parker with that clinical shot from the pocket (city end) towards the end of the game? He is a clutch player.

Also spoke to Mr Sheezel.... he described Powell as a very vanilla footballer...
He’s pretty vocal in his opinion of certain players that’s for sure

I suspect we are easing him into the midfield, like we did we early Sheezel.

I think he will get time through there definitely (as much because he will want it as anything) but predominantly off half back. I'm reaching a bit but I think with Daniel likely to get good minutes as well they might want to rotate around a bit so that there is less exposure to lesser defenders at the same time.

Probably goes without saying in many ways but Sheezel was very clean. In fact he was the last player kicking into the forward line (with great success) on several occasions. How much of that is plan (I mean, obviously you'd want him doing it as often as possible) and how much that he is just very good at finding space, dunno. But he looks to have that little bit of extra zip about him and felt his kicking was back closer to his best.
