Haha I was thinking the same!

Both parties happy with the decision, no bad blood and no comments from Fly have been made to discredit Ginnivan…
Ridiculous hyperbole, but it wasn't a good decision. He'll have a good career and with the future pick swaps, we ended up paying them.

IMO, Ginni is a loss and that is confounded by the absence of Bobby.....Schultz has been fantastic, a really good get but he doesn't kick goals out of his backside like Ginni.

Ginni would be elite for us as a high half forward.

That said, I’m picking Schultz over him more often than not. I’m taking his tackling and forward pressure (plus more goals) over Ginni’s miraculous goals.

For the record, both in this team would be incredible :(

Absolutely, Ginni is a scoreboard pressure forward and Schultz classic territory pressure forward.

Apparently Cane’s top 5 are
1 Nick
2 Josh
3 Ginni
4 DC
5 Maynard

Ginni ahead of Maynard and DC is just a bit rich. Cornes also must not have the latest team list because Houston, Crisp, Shultz and Elliott would have to be listed. Also JDG.
Edit; I stopped there not because of complete thoughts, I stopped because I was time wasting.
He's also slyly adding in one of his other favourite trolls - Darcy Moore.

Itll depend how many kids kick on this year, but we've currently got no depth. I think we'll target an end of 22 style off season more than just nabbing a star. Multiple players and keeping our first round draft picks.

Yes, Ginni's foot skills and vision is above average, good at hitting targets inside fifty, something CFC is currently struggling with.

This is what I’m hoping for if King or Humphrey don’t ask to be traded to us.

Bring in 3-4 players of positions we need

I felt we dumped him early. BUT I have no understanding if he is coachable and if he is a team player. I suspect both are suspect. He is slow. He is me first. He is too hungry. He is inconsistent. He doesn’t perform in big games. The club made the trade backing themselves to not fall off. And Hawthorn improved. The club took a trade risk and it failed. It happens. It happened 2 whole years ago. Over it.

A different perspective of Bobby and Ginni. At the time Bobby had changed his name to Normie. Ginni had just been wandering at the races after multiple other events. There were issues GF eve and GF day. There are huge flaws to say with hindsight we should have kept Ginni and Bobby is a part of the reason. That does not add up. Shultz just delivers for the team.

Yes Schultz is fantastic but he has not delivered a premiership like Ginni and Bobby did..... To date!

The disappointing thing for me is that I think we'd put in the hard yards. 2023 was the year he needed to have both on and off field. Long term he was always too slow for deep forward. He needed that year of struggle whilst being converted into a half forward. He had to learn to significantly up his work rate. And he has. Good luck to him.

Everyone has their opinions on this (and other trades)

My opinion is we started losing our minds (for whatever reason) when we traded the Nick pick 12 months ahead

We were truly bonkers by 2023(drafting / trading)

I’ve got my fingers crossed O’Bree is the man and has the conviction to stand his ground when he makes his recommendations on players

(Plus some strong pick positions wouldn’t hurt)

This has been explained a million times. No club was going to let us have Nick for free and also a high first rounder.

It's nonsense though. The value a club loses from matching a higher bid doesn't disappear - it gets redistributed to other teams. So if a bid means that value will go to them they have an incentive to bid, but if it just means that value will end up at another club than them, why specifically target Collingwood.

The reality of the situation is that we would have traded the pick into the future if necessary so just a redistribution of value between us and whoever we traded with. So if we lost our of the trade, whoever we traded with would have won. Yay we harmed Collingwood by bidding, but **** we helped Hawthorn.

If anybody needs reminding how good Ginni was on field in black and white watch the highlights of CFC v Carlton 2022 Rnd 23. Fantastic result!

Ginnivan just isn’t that good, he plays without a man most weeks, roaming up to half back and often standing on the boundary line getting these cheap touches.

Half his quick handballs look like throws.

If any side paid him any respect when he’s not in the F50 he’d barely touch it.

Jack kicked a grand total 0.1 the other night. Whilst Kane said he was slow and a diver when he was with us….

Toss

Thanks for the final word but I’ll still go in another direction

Had we waited until the end of 2021 there would have been multiple clubs willing to give their F1 for our pick 2
Maybe I’ll post this a million times on BF and it can become fact
