On the bulking up bit, I hope we aren't making the mistake of going too top heavy again. Someone here might know better than me, but isn't it more of a leg power thing than a chest or arm muscle thing? The Brisbane mids look more quick to me than just outright more muscly.

People can't have a different perspective? Things look different from the outside versus the inside of the club. We look at things from a fan's perspective.

Just like the Michelin starred chef would be factoring in things we don't have to consider, such as seasonality of produce, cost of certain items vs expected patronage etc and optimising their offering.

We don't give a shit about any of that, we just see the dish for the dish with our numpty savage palate.

It's nothing to do with objectively 'knowing better'.
Who said someone cant have a different perspective? In fact I quite clearly say the exact opposite to begin the very comment you responded to.

But its just that. In your own words - a fans perspective. When weighed against our list management team I know whos perspective ill give more weight to. Even in your chef analogy you openly admit that the fans perspective is made with incomplete information.

It was questioned why we would bring in a kpd for an SSP trial. And ive quite clearly already covered why that wouldn't be an unreasonable decision

Legs bro Legs

Just a reminder I called shotgun on having Sweidy as my 2026 buddy, thank you 🙏

You misunderstand - my point is that simply because the insiders have more information, their perspective is skewed and therefore different. Not better or worse.

How is it better? It could be arguably worse.
No wonder you've taken offence.

If you genuinely think you can watch some games (from the stands or tv), read a bunch of articles, shoot the shit on social media with other fans, and then from that are in any way qualified to have a better perspective or understanding of our long term list management needs than our actual list management team then youre exactly the sort of person I was trying to mock with my original comment

The list management team that has arguably built the best list in the comp without any of the advantages handed to some of our rivals by the way.

Skewed?
Generally if you have more (and more accurate) information you are in a position to have "better" perspectives.
I try to strive for more information than less.
However...
If I am determined to present my preconceptions and prejudices as valuable and worthy contributions to the discourse...
factual data often just gets in the way.
Thats my opinion anyway.

Just tweaking

Lleyton Hewitt run up and down sand hills in his preparation to win the 2001 US Open. Except he had to travel to get to them. They're literally right there next to the oval. By not using them, Freo are just throwing away a premiership.

This has big vertical swimming energies.

Every person values something different in players then everyone else
Me personally I find the best players are the ones that love footy and have footy high footy IQ but aren’t that athletic over athletes that don’t love footy don’t have a high footy IQ but are fast explosive and can jump high.
But most list managers reckon they can teach footy IQ and skills so go for the athlete.

The best young kids in the afl atm are father sons reason being they have grown up around the game learnt the game and love footy I wouldn’t say Ashcroft is an athlete but god he’s the smartest player in the game and it shows

My biggest regret this preseason was not getting to see Sweidy in full match sim as they are holding him back.

He looks really strong and from other reporters hard at it in the contest. It's hard not to like the guy on a personal level when he has a smile that can light up a room.

I can't wait to see him in full flight come round 1 for either Freo or Peel.

Sorry Duz...
Our "Bruce" is the smartest player in the game, will be for some time, and hes not UNathletic.
MOST list managers would surely trade a body part for him right now!
Mason Cox didnt pick up a footy until 23 years old, how do you see him?

Bruce is not athletic he’s slow and can’t jump so you are proving my point.
He fell to 17 because of that his IQ an skills with ball is what makes him as good as he is

I don’t know what cox has to do with my point that I prefer high IQ players over athletes so I feel like you’ve just missed my point fully

Why would Bruce want to jump when hes so good on the ground?
But...high footy IQ athletes are really really exciting.
It really is the package isnt it?
Slow smart winger , no thanks.
Fast unsmart midfielder, no thanks.
Everyone needs enough of everything they need to do their job, just that.

Difference is a slow smart winger will make it in the league a fast dumb midfielder won’t
