AFL Player 21: Archie “The Enforcer” Roberts - Rising Star & Most Improved at the BnF

So if I recall correctly, he was originally touted as a top 10-15(?) pick - any idea why he slid to mid 50s?
I want to say it was related to defensive efforts / lack of size? I might be misremembering though.

Edit - looked back at the first page, it listed areas for improvement as defensive craft and strength - he’s definitely fixed up the problems imo.

rising star nomination incoming

was huge in the second half
With one game to go, Hugo Garcia (St.K, 23 possessions, 9 tackles, 8 clearances, 5 marks) probably the only challenger thus far.

Unless an Eagle or Docker jumps from the clouds, would be one of these two.. Archie was VERY good

Note. 168cm, Isiah Dudley for Fremantle has kicked 2 in the first quarter)
Note 2.0 forgot about Harvey Langford, 26 possessions and a bunch of other stats

**** im old....
Welcome to the world of age realisation. It just keeps happening. When I was an 80s kid I thought, wow, the 60s seems like a different world so long ago. Now I'm in disbelief that the 90s was 30 years ago. How can that be real?

I had Archie in my top 3. He's already playing at a high level consistently and doesn't compromise his defensive game. I reckon the coaches would love working with him.

I'm never going to give you another like until you get rid of that ugly 1743377078896.png

I’d say Murphy Reid may get it now

probably, but it's hard to justify it in my mind.

As a forward, Reid kicked 0.2 and had 19 disposals, for 75 DT points.

Roberts, playing up the ground more, kicked a goal and had 21 disposals for 94 DT points.

In any case, Langford probably deserves it most

It’s not just off one performance though it’s a body of work, and Reid was stiff to miss out in round 1 kicking 4

This early in the season it's usually just one off, later in the year they start rewarding 'body of work' as most of the major guys have all had their nominations.

If there's no real standout performance in this particular week they might do a body of work type one.
