I feel like I'm wasting my time here but yes I understand Wingard is a slightly better player than Treloar. But look at all the other pick 6s. We're talking about probability here mate.

Besides, we all know Wingard would have been taken at pick 1-3 if not for him telling GWS he will leave in two years time if they draft him. So your point is moot anyway.

If you have pick 6 or 7 and you can turn it into a player of Treloar's calibre, you pull the trigger.

Would you prefer Myers or Treloar?

You over-rate players - I would willingly give pick 4 or higher for 40 or 50 players in the AFL - Talk we are interested in O'Meara next year - I'd willingly give pick 1 for O'Meara - You fail to realise that GWS is asking for pick 7 and 10 for Treloar - That's the discussion.

It's not even really the Saints being flogs.

This is flat out a club that quite simply hasn't the slightest clue what they are doing. They genuinely thought that convincing the player himself, who is NOT a FA, was the be all and end all of getting this done. They could waltz into trade period, feeling chuffed with themselves, thinking they can swing dicks like a big boy and strong arm Essendon in to getting it done.

Except Dodoro, despite what you think of his list management performance over time, is a seasoned campaigner. He must seriously almost have sneered at these sniveling little shits that immediately rebuffed the only logical trade option, pick 5.

St Kilda are the skinny kid that has jabbed at the heavy bag a bit, and then all of a sudden reckons they can jump in the ring with Ali cause they think they can box.

Rank amateurs. Watch them accept Carlisle and pick 41 or some other such worthless compensation so they can meekly go back to their supporter base and claim that they did what they said they were gonna do and not give up pick 5 in a straight swap.

Just interested to know what Carlisle would've been on per year at Essendon ?
Is there no chance Worsfold could talk him around to re sign ?

Essendon should offer to pay part of JC's contract for first year or two if he goes to Hawks.

Can this actually be done? I was under the impression that this could only occur if the player being traded was still contracted to his existing club. If so, we can't help Hawthorn out financially.

He said that when it seemed the Saints weren't going to be ******s about it.

Now that they are, and don't seem to want him, he might change his mind.

Even more telling is that neither him or his manager completely dismissed Hawks as an option.

Think Worsfold would prefer to trade him for pick 5. Carlisle would've been looking at a good wage next season if he had wanted to sign on, but the contract he would've been on last year was probably average.

Except for the fact that he is obviously not worth pick 5, as shown by you accepting 15 and 18, and we were working on a deal that would provide you with a pick that is fairer in the 8-12 region.

Accepting 15 and 18 because you're not offering what he's worth*
Fancy committing to a player, having him commit to you, but not be willing to pay up.

What was the deal you were working on and how is it working out? There is very little information coming out of st Kilda.

No. Part of an existing contract yes, but JC is out so would be a new contract.

Otherwise any club could “borrow” salary cap room off any others.

Lets assume, that despite many in the industry telling you that he IS worth pick 5 (admittedly its slight overs, but hey, thats how clubs get deals done), that you are correct - he's not worth it.

Then what was your imbecilic club thinking it was going to do to pry him loose? They obviously didn't have any well thought out plans as to how they were going to 'get' this so called fair compensation; that is glaringly obvious.

Doesn't matter which way you spin it, your list management team are a bunch of rank amateurs that blew their load too early, thinking the job was done when they got the player to agree to the move.

Why is he not worth it? Just because the blokes that are proving to be the dumbest guys in the room don't think he's worth it doesn't mean he's not, in fact it's probably the opposite

Overrating players lol.. Treloar is a gun. No this discussion wasn't about what they were asking for. I was refuting your claim (quoted below) where you said that Treloar was worth pick 6 or 7.

This conversation is almost as painful as listening to David Warner attempt to commentate on GEM right now.

I am the opposite - The competition over-rates the trade value of players - Two first rounders for Treloar - He's worth pick 6 or 7.
