We were down by 22 points. Our defence made me cringe; as we were forced to concede a behind from a fumble (3 points in pre-season)

Was it just nerves? Will the boys get better? Or are these early indicators that our backline is still heavily underpowered/undermanned/underdone????

Having said that they did quite well after that; so maybe it was just nerves.

Well it is first game I'm sure on saturday we'll see a better performance early better to mess up in the nab cub then do it when proper season starts Rd 1 should be a snap

It's a new combination - they'll take a while to settle. Fortunately Port didn't have any gun forwards on the park and the midfield relieved the pressure enough for them to organise themselves.

when we were down 22 to nothing, i thought we were gonna get a belting, but we did pretty well in the end. let's just put it down to new coach, new strategies, new players, etc. we'll do better this week - i can feel it

I'd leave it at early nerves. Our backline actually played pretty well after the first 10 or so minutes. I'm happy that the boys bounced back from such an early deficite to nick the lead.

For the next 90 odd minutes we were 37 points up. Stop focusing on the negatives. That goes for your kreuzer thread as well.

They smashed us from half back and through the middle in the first ten minutes, defenders had no chance, just like last year. Our backline aren't that bad, they just look worse when the mids don't put any pressure on their opponent and they have all the time in the world to shoot off a pin point pass.

Wasn't a great start, but to the boys credit, they did get back into the game pretty quickly from that point. I wonder what the result might have been had we been able to get a few more centre clearances.

Well f*** me we win a game of football, a good game of football - much better than most of the games on the tube over the weekend- and someone wants to highlight a brief period of time before we got going as a negative.

Didnt you see us come back from that deficit?

Didnt you see some changes in tactics that started to see Port turnovers in OUR ATTACKING 50 that lead to goals for us?

Didnt you see a 5 goal to nothing premiership quarter as the Blues powered away with the game?

To highlight a brief period of time before the matchups were right is like trying to highlight your teenage years as a period of time that you made some mistakes. DERRRRRRR.

The best bit is we came back, took the points, advanced the cause whilst still playing a hell of a lot of kids.

Then we led by 11 at quarter time, without Setanta, and with Bower, Jasmison and Grigg all looking good.
