I feel there’s some wires getting crossed here.

If he has breached AFL policy, then they’re free to take whatever action that’s allowed by their charter.

There is no legal requirement for the AFL to report criminal allegations made to them to the police on behalf of the alleged victim.
They're allegations, the AFL cannot make a decision without the allegations being determined true. The only way is through the courts.

This is turning into some sort of culture war, so I won't be back on this thread. But to summarise the actual facts:

1. The AFL playing contract is a tri-parte contract between:
• The player – who performs services for the club;
• The club – who pays the player and has responsibilities as an employer;
• The AFL – who run the league (e.g. makes the rules, broadcasting rights)

2. the AFL Respect and Responsibility Policy is a victim-centred regime that allows complainants to make anonymous complaints. It requires players to uphold gender equality and do harm to any person on account of their sex or gender. This is not a criminal standard.

2. In signing a standard contract, the player agrees to abide by AFL rules and policies

3. Breaches of the AFL Respect and Responsibility Policy are dealt with according to a process that requires national justice. For the non-lawyers, this means that any person the subject of a complaint is afforded the opportunity to respond to allegations.

4. Under 4.9 of the AFL Rules:

The Commission may at any time and on such conditions as it thinks fit cancel or suspend the registration of a Player where it is of the opinion that such Player has conducted himself or herself in a manner unbecoming of an AFL Player or likely to prejudice the reputation or interests of the AFL or to bring the game of football into disrepute.

If you don't like any of that, go howl at the moon.

I'm fine with all that.

They're only allegations. Due process has to happen, there is no way around it.

They're criminal allegations, trial in court to avoid any confusion before ruining his life. Simple really.

It's pretty hypocritical if an integrity unit doesn't report it though....

That's bollocks. The AFL integrity unit isn't a court of law, who are they to determine someone's guilt!? It's the point of courts!

If you were innocent of a crime and the"victim" didn't want to go to the police, but "felt justice would be served" by going to your certification provider and ruining your career knowing the level of reasonable doubt is significantly lower, then that's totally unreasonable and the victim would be directed to the relevant authorities.

In addition, with all due respect to the victim, they are not qualified to hand down the punishment to the perpetrator. Again, it's why we have judges.

Unfortunately, in our current system majority of domestic violence cases go unconvicted. It's very hard to get a conviction. There are plenty of serial offenders that go throughout life never being convicted of domestic violence.

Saying because someone didn't go to the police (we don't know if they have) means that it didn't happen is pretty much the opposite of what statistics say about domestic violence.

You can't apply a generalisation to a specific case

If the AFL wanted to make a player accountable for their actions they should have done it to DeGoey. The fact they are doing it to a young Indigenous North player ****ing stinks. So unless its criminal then anyone who says anything else, can seriously go **** themselves.

Its an AFL agenda to attack North when more significant codes of conduct have been breached by other clubs. The afl and that campaigner whore can go and get ****ed

The AFL will create a campaigner board filled with gerard healy and dwayne russel to make adjudication on such issues

One could easily say that about people who do not agree. Society is a really simple concept if there was no poison media. What is happening with Tarryn is trial by media. Not by law
Would love you to quote what has been said in the latest incident that can be considered ‘trial by media’. As far as I have seen, it has been reported that, once again, Tarryn has been accused on abusive behaviour towards women. That is all.

It was okay for marlion Pickett to be an ex ice Addict drug dealer that spent time in jail between 2010-2013 for a string of charges including burglary to play in the 2019 grand final but god forbid Taryn Thomas a 24 year old indigenous lad argues with a 30 something year old alleged cocaine fiend… okay?
