Re: Selection #29 - Jack Gunston

cheers macca, he'll be over there tomorrow.

Has the club arranged a host family for him? Is he excited :)

I always feel like I want to contact the club and offer to help the new guys settle in, before remembering I live on pittance wages and barely keep myself eating :p

Re: Selection #29 - Jack Gunston

get darren jarman to teach him how to kick through the ball.
seems to good awareness and vision which is always handy.

jack was just on 5aa but I only caught the last minute. Did anyone happen to record it and able to upload it here?

I didn't record it as I was working, but I did hear Jack Gunston on 5AA being interviewed by Cornesy and Rowey today.

He's a bright lad and he speaks well. He confirmed that his nick-name was Gunna when Cornesy suggested he might get the nick-name "Norman" and said that only the old blokes called him Norman, which prompted Cornesy to say that he'll call him Gunna. :)

When asked who his game was modelled on or the closest to, he said Jarrad Waite.

He had been shown through the new facilities and was super impressed.

Currently he's staying with Scott Stevens and reckons there's no complaints there because Stevo's missus is a superb cook. He'll stay there until Christmas and then when he returns in the New Year he'll get a foster home, unknown at this stage.

He won't be doing any study in 2010 but wil start something in 2011.

He dislocated his shoulder at the start of last year, which he said was really painful, only playing 8 games for the year, all at the end of the year. However he was really happy with his game when he did play and has no more problems or pain with his shoulder.

There was a bit more than that but that's all I can remember off the cuff, other than to stress once again that he came across as a very bright, intelligent, well-spoken young man.

I could be wrong, but I thought he said he was staying with Myke Cook and his partner, not Stevens. Other than that you're on the money though m23 :thumbsu: He came across as intelligent, though I wouldn't have said he was the best speaker, mostly because he has a relatively monotonic sounding voice.

Never argue with a "stabby". :D

You're right of course!! :thumbsu:

Talia is the one that is staying with Stevens I think. They could stay in the old shed and have a sleepover though. That would be a better idea.

Scotty Stevens lives a few doors down from me - no doubt he's recruited Talia to help finish off the driveway hes been working on for ages.

Injury almost ruined Gunston's chances

NEW ADELAIDE draftee Jack Gunston only has to look down at his crooked elbow for a reminder of how close he came to missing out on his AFL dream.

The Crows drafted Gunston, 18, with pick No.29 in last week’s NAB AFL Draft but eight months ago a career at the elite level seemed almost inconceivable.

Interesting article. Good to see Rendell finally out peddling again that we got a bunch of kids under their true value because they were injured most of the year :D Petrenko, Davis, now Talia and Gunston, who else has there been?

One of my neighbours have had a 1/4 painted fence for years.

They started painting it bloody blue and then must have realised what a disgrace it was and stopped.....only they just left it.

Adds lulz value to the street and disgusted looks from walkers by :D

Rendell only watched him play 3 times (TAC)? I hope he watched more of him outside of the TAC Cup.

Probably doesn't include video that we've probably got of him from other matches, also its generally Hamish Ogilvies (?sp) job to keep an eye on the victorian draftees, Rendell is Adelaide based, hence would watch more of the potential South Australian draftees.

I think its something you can subscribe to and recieve the latest 'episode' automatically, similar to an RRS feed.

I would subscribe to their podcasts if they did them still. Poor form imo. Just don't get the same person who does the Nova breakfast show ones to do the 5aa afternoon ones, they are horirble, audio levels up and down, repeating the same segments twice, its actually quite embarrasing.

A podcast is essentially something that people download and can actually use on another media player (be that an ipod, mp3 player, laptop whatever) besides having to have the internet site open to view the video/audio.

That said 5AA don't exactly seem to be consistant with uploading podcasts. I don't recall Talia's original interview after he was drafted is on there at all. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Well - I think for something to be a podcast you've got to be able to receive and play it on your iPod.

I think it is an absolute shocker that they are not doing podcasts anymore. I'm sure it mostly comes down to the guy that had to chop them up and upload them couldn't be arsed anymore. But it is a GREAT way to look like a small town radio station ...

Gunna will be wearing the number 28 for you guys..
can anyone give me a run down on previous owners of this number? cheers

Aaron Kite had it recently, but didn't play with it.

Before him, Bernie Vince had the number until he moved to his current #17.

Kane Johnson had it before that. Pretty good pedigree :thumbsu:

James Begley, Martin McKinnon and Darren Smith had it as well.

Edit: Actually, Begley was between Johnson and Vince if my memory serves.
