Jed is really important for defensive pressure in the midfield and unless we are applying heaps of pressure we cant match it wuth the better teams. I suspect that Ahern is running out of puff early in games and probably doesnt add a lot going the other way which i think would further excerbate our pressure issue.

Dec Mountford would be a good addition if he can get fit. In the longterm Kyron Hayden and Zurhar. Not sure if either have it in them to build tanks required but both have the right mindset.

Interestingly, i reckon LDU whilst not a high posession getter was doing pretty well in this area - tackling and applying constant pressure. No stats to back this up just eyeball kind of feel.

Anyway. I hope we can get the right mix after the break. The Geelong game was very sloppy.

Missed his pressure and intensity the last 2 weeks. The 2nd half of the Brisbane game we gave their midfielders tonnes is space.

We did the same with Geelong. anderson’s Pressure stats, tackles, smothers ect prove how much he makes the opposition earn every possession.
He'll get his chance again , come september.

It's understood Anderson and North recently opened talks on a deal that will likely be for two years and tie him to the club until the end of 2020.

JED ANDERSON is set to rewarded with a fresh deal by North Melbourne after rejuvenating his career this season.

Anderson appeared to be on borrowed time at Arden Street when he played just 15 games in his first two seasons after crossing from Hawthorn on a three-year contract at the end of 2016, in a trade that cost North its first-round pick.

However, the 24-year-old has finally vindicated the Kangaroos' considerable investment, flourishing as an inside midfielder in the first half of 2018.

It's understood Anderson and North recently opened talks on a deal that will likely be for two years and tie him to the club until the end of 2020.

Anderson's dramatic development this season has not only bolstered the Kangaroos' midfield. It has also allowed North to deploy Jack Ziebell as a human battering ram in attack, confident the former Hawk can pick up the skipper's slack at clearances.

In an added bonus, the former NT Thunder player is also emerging as a leader at Arden St, with Tasmanian Next Generation Academy prospect Tarryn Thomas nominating Anderson as the Kangaroo who had taken him under his wing when he trained with the club over the pre-season.

Thomas, who has been tipped to go in the top three picks in this year's NAB AFL Draft, recently spoke glowingly of Anderson as a mentor on the Road to the Draft podcast. North can match any rival bids for the indigenous prodigy at the draft.

Anderson has already played a career-high 11 matches this season, having been plagued by injury and illness since debuting for Hawthorn in 2013.

Prior to suffering a hamstring injury early in North's round 11 clash against Brisbane, Anderson averaged 19.2 disposals, 4.5 clearances and 5.3 tackles over the first 10 rounds.

Meanwhile, North is likely to delay talks with unrestricted free agent Sam Wright until later in the season despite the defender's encouraging form since his return from nearly two years on the sidelines with injury.

It's understood Wright's management has approached North to open talks, but the club has indicated it won't be in a position to do so until after its round 13 bye.

Wright returned to the Kangaroos' team in round seven after a succession of foot and ankle injuries had sidelined him from all bar a handful of VFL games since round 11, 2016.

The 27-year-old has not missed a match since, making a seamless return to North's back six.

Wright's strong foot skills on both sides give the Roos' defence a classier edge, while, at 188cm, he is also a strong overhead mark.

The former forward has not lost his attacking flair either, having been nominated for Goal of the Year after snapping truly while flat on his back against Brisbane in round 11, and for Mark of the Year after his spectacular one-handed grab against Geelong last Saturday.

The No.27 pick in 2008's NAB AFL Draft, Wright was an important member of the Kangaroos' 2014 and 2015 preliminary final teams.

North Melbourne's other out-of-contract players include free agents Shaun Atley (restricted) and Scott Thompson, along with Luke McDonald, Ben Jacobs, Jarrad Waite and Ed Vickers-Willis.

The perfect.

Fair enough that the club isn’t rushing Wright’s contract either, it’s early days in his recovery from long term injuries. Wait to see how he goes in the 2nd half of the season

Yeh life has definitely moved in an unexpected direction when the bloke I thought was first in the delisting gun preseason now has me bemoaning the absence of from the senior side.
Perhaps you should do some self reflection. Use this example and ask yourself if you truly know anything about football? If the answer is yes ask yourself if lying to yourself is beneficial. Best not to be too self critical also as that can be a seperate issue in itself.

I always knew Jed was a fundamental part of the North squad. Would Cam lie? No.

So has Jed actually done a hammy?

Or are we just being extra cautious to get him firing in the 2nd half of the year
extra cautious. It was just tightness, but it was the same hammy he done 2 years ago when he was out for 12 weeks.

Had 6 touches in the front half when we made our run in the 3rd quarter.

Swapping him and Jack back and forth was pivotal.

Two bulls on rotation coming at you.
No wonder that soft campaigner Bontempeli went missing when the contest heated up.
Overrated as ****.
Embarrassing really

There was a part in the third quarter where the bloke kicking out from defence and near the contest beforehand just got absolutely shoulder smashed by Jed, and he was taking that around the ground all night. He's got the designated rough 'em up role and he does it so well. Really fractures players from going hard in the contest because if Jed's around they'll think twice.

He laid a bump on one of their players trying to break out in our forward line that let the next North player stick the tackle, which led to a goal.

That stuff doesn’t get noticed much, but was so valuable.
Was that the bump on Honeychurch which led to a dual tackle from Higgins and Ziebell which was rewarded via holding the ball and Higgins went back and slotted it?

That was the one. Jed's bump let them lay perfect tackles. No risk of giving away the free.

I noticed that. It was great.

And whoever he hit got nailed by two blokes.

It was like he just decided to knock the campaigner into their path pinball style cos that combination would hurt more than if Jed tackled him alone.
