We have a couple. Could be our lack of real class level training that's seen this kids skills go a bit backwards too.

My logic and i assume that of the club is/was purely points based. With so many clubs looking to trade down for points last year it was an obvious move. Thus i quantify cost purely as points spent and recieved.

Out - 1332 points
In - 894 points
Jed - 438 points - Pick 40

Is just what last year was made into due to the rules. This year won't be anywhere near as bad.

Jed would have been a 2nd any other year, but once the Hawks added in those other 2 picks it was an easy deal to move 15, knowing full well we would get back into the 1st round.

Don't like it and agree with different years being different, but points for academies was all 2015 trade week was about. Pure numbers game!

Actually feel for clubs who traded for future picks expecting things to be the same this year that they now cant use in the same way.

You are completely deluded mate - that analysis is so rudimentary it's laughable. Cam and the team would have watched him for years and knew exactly what they were after when they went for him.

From what I understand, and I'm no recruiter, he was a pre-listed GWS priority player and was captain of the NT junior team - a very highly rated junior that Hawthorn got in a trade for a senior player they were happy to move on.

Apparently his skills are good when fully fit too - time will tell on that one, as they haven't been great to date - he'll admit that.

I still don't mind the Jed trade. In the end we didn't give up that much for him.
...and I feel like we got crazy value in the draft for the picks we had...early, but imo total opposite to the previous year.
2015 draftees will easily be alot better than 2014 imo.

On the argument about him not being good enough at the Hawks and us taking a reject. How did that work out with the Swans and Kennedy? mcglyn? And the many other players they've built a team around from elsewhere.

We USED or 1st(15) and 3rd(55) round picks to get Anderson and picks 34 and 40
We USED picks 34 and 40 to get pick 17

Net result

Anderson COST us pick 40 in equivelent points.

If i had a $50 note and an apple
and wanted an orange
so bought an orange USING my $50 note
getting $38 change
Then swapped my Apple and $38
for a $50 note
didn't the orange COST me my apple?
