How much credit do we give to Dodoro vs Rosa in this situation though? Is it a coincidence Rosa shows up and we nail the pick?
Wouldn't say we nailed the pick at all. O'Sullivan will be a better player and we paid the cats to take the guy they wanted anyway. Who cops the blame for that, Rosa or Dodoro?

Not sure I'm convinced O'Sullivan will be a better player. It's much harder to find an impactful key forward than an impactful defender. Both look pretty good and fill bigger needs for their respective teams.

O'Sullivan just looks more solid. Caddy does some real dumb shit and often makes basic errors, he's a very Essendon selection. All style but no substance.

O'Sullivan was one of the worst players on field in the GF. He did a lot of really dumb shit and basic errors. That's just what you expect of a kid.

The main reason he's being spoken about as an up and coming gun is because the Cats side is so full of guns that it covers his errors and lets him shine.

If you put Caddy in a team like Geelong people would be frothing so hard over the guy as the next Jeremy Cameron.

It's much easier to look solid down back for a premiership contender than up forward for a basket case.

I guess time will tell but I think Caddy's looked pretty good for a second year key forward playing one of, if not the hardest positions on the field in a struggling team.

Additionally, O'Sullivan wasn't a position of need when we were drafting and assuming Hayes/Reid overcome their injury issues I don't think we can add this to Dodoro's vast collection of draft f**k ups just yet.

The fact he gets a game at his age in a club that is a premiership contender tells you he's going pretty decent. From what I've seen he's really solid in a 1 on 1, it's not just reading the play across half back.

They said the same of Harry Jones. Caddy is and will be better than Jones, but Essendon fans get absolutely carried away with a highlight. The side continues to struggle, as we don't nail the basics.

This is a really good point and I rate Hayes. Still think we got swindled coughing up a pick to jump a spot. If it were 2 spots you're probably out bidding someone. If Wells/Mackie rated Caddy the way he is on here then the trade doesn't get done.

Suspect Geelong rated them about the same, and needed a KPF and KPD about the same. So a 2nd rounder to take a guy they have a similar need for is a no brainer.

Meanwhile we were desperate for a young KPF so giving up a 2nd to make sure we got one is also a no brainer.

I reckon Geelong would have been happy with Caddy or O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan will pair with SDK for the 8 years and Caddy would have paired well with Neale for the next 8 years.

Out of interest, has content and posts regarding Caddy's reported trade request been removed from these pages?
hey mate, just circling back to this, has there been any news of this trade even being hinted at.

thanks.

The hindsight selection is Logan Morris. Dodo’s chrystal ball wasn’t working that night.

Morris is a slightly better Jack Anthony in a good side. He would be absolutely terrible for us. Generates less touches than Caddy does in a side that absolutely dominates, he'd be a 5-6 possession getter for us.

Give me Morris every day of the week. 53 goals in a premiership team in your second year is pretty damn good. Caddy should have more touches as we direct two out of three forward entries through him. That’s the result of us being crap. Morris has to go and win his own ball, not get it lace out like you make it seem. Caddy might be a good player one day, but he has a lot of improvement needed.
Morris is already a very good player.

Morris barely has to leave the 50. Caddy has to win the ball at half back and sprints the length of the ground. Caddy should be getting more inside 50 but we move the ball slow af and have 1 good kick in the side opposed to Brisbane being the fastest and best ball users in the comp. Morris would get nothing with the lack of space in our forward line. Also caddy should be a midfielder but we are allergic to making good decisions.

Considering I was asking us to draft Morris I should be big noting him but it just isn’t correct.
