Like I get one or two setbacks, but it seems his conditioning is way off if the quads tight during a warm up.
Should have put him on ice 5 weeks ago when he strained his quad during a routine warm up.

That was not time to be alerted but alarm bells should have been going off at how he wasn’t able to handle any loading.

I think for the kids mental head space, the club reassures his list spot for 2026 and I would give him extended leave now. Encourage him to get away overseas and go some place warm and switch off.

Then get him back here in a couple of months time and attack rehab refreshed.

I’d trust the medical people in any AFL club vs the keyboard nutters on these BF forums.

And besides anyone who has had an injury knows the road to recovery is not to rest and do nothing, but to get back into rehab quickly post injury. Doing nothing is worse and opens them up to more soft tissue issues

What if medical experts within AFL clubs disagree with each other?

What should keyboard nutters believe in that situation?
 
Geez you guys are all doom and gloom in here. Yes, he's had his injury troubles but he's proven himself to be a quality player and there's plenty of players who have gone through injuries early in their career and gone on to be successful.

I think he's a super important player for our future. Can play on smalls and some talls as well as provide rebound out of defense. These guys don't grow on trees.

Goater, Archer, Hardeman, Comben, Whitlock and one other tall lock down type is looking like a pretty dynamic defense for the future!
 
Worth persisting. We have had players with chronic injuries come good. Comben (touch wood) and Tarrant come to mind.
Comben had chalky bones.

Taz had shoulder/back structural issues from memory.

Chronis muscle strains are a different beast.

Geez you guys are all doom and gloom in here. Yes, he's had his injury troubles but he's proven himself to be a quality player and there's plenty of players who have gone through injuries early in their career and gone on to be successful.

I think he's a super important player for our future. Can play on smalls and some talls as well as provide rebound out of defense. These guys don't grow on trees.

Proven to be a quality player …. He has played 12 games in 4 seasons.

I don't think he's got that. It's just a consequence of the achillies injury. Maybe some rest and some recovery program can work

Grimes from tuggers had bad hammies and came good - it can be overcome
And goater isn’t at the chronic stage just yet
