Neither do I.I don’t think that will be their plan for him especially since they brought in Goldy and VV.

Would not be totally ruling it out. They will give him a crack at defence but he may well end up as FP/second ruck. All our ruck stocks have various question marks on them .Neither do I.
He's looking healthy at least. In that photo. From that angle. With that lighting. In the gws training kit.
At this point I just hope he has got his body right. I can see him doing some ruck duties but not as a full time ruck. They only way that will happen is if he fails as a back or a forward imo.Would not be totally ruling it out. They will give him a crack at defence but he may well end up as FP/second ruck. Not that it is worth much but he did play one of his better under 18 games in the ruck .At this point I just hope he has got his body right. I can see him doing some ruck duties but not as a full time ruck. They only way that will happen is if he fails as a back or a forward imo.
Goldy ain’t going to be on the list for longI don’t think that will be their plan for him especially since they brought in Goldy and VV.
Nick Bryan is....Goldy ain’t going to be on the list for long
Vv is a rookie
Bryan ain’t going to play as a majority forward though.Nick Bryan is....
So are you saying that Reid will be played as a majority forward?Bryan ain’t going to play as a majority forward though.
That could be years down the tracklol he's played 8 games as Defender maybe give him another 8 before moving him to R/F![]()
What to do with this guy? It’s hard to envisage him as 205cm key defender….
Forward? Ruck? He has shown glimpses of some poise and skill you don’t usually see in blokes this size….but how to best use it? I’m really not clear on the answer.
It would take years for Reid to get ahead of Bryan as a ruck, probably Drapes retires before that becomes a thing.
He might be the anti-Daniher, defender who roams up the wings a bit.
I’ve always differed with you re Jake Lever. I rate him as a footballer. I just don’t know if Reid has the mobility to pull it off.205cm Jake Lever is what we'd want to start with. Doesn't need to be able to defend or do anything physical to be that. Who knows where it goes from there.
He's not a ruck, no way, not with that build.
Forward adds a layer of physical stress he's not really suited to.
Darcy Moore is close to that height I think he is about 203 cmI’ve always differed with you re Jake Lever. I rate him as a footballer. I just don’t know if Reid has the mobility to pull it off.
Think part of my pessimism comes from reflecting on the fact he’s now 205cm. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure we have never seen a key defender that size. McKay, SDK are close but they have far more classically athletic physiques and traits. I know he can play, I’ve seen glimpses……but that tall with a weird body shape….I can’t quite get past it at the moment.
A first time for everything, maybe he’s a freak….we’ll see.
Moore is five times more athletic and quicker.Darcy Moore is close to that height I think he is about 203 cm
He’s probably just stopped growing. He is probably another 3 preseasons of being the final product, body wise. When he is, he will easily be able to play on the big slow guys. It’s a wiry frame but he’s just starting to look strong, and will get there I reckon.Moore is five times more athletic and quicker.
For me height is not an issue. It will be the lean frame and the lack of speed. He does not look like he will have a KP body for a while yet. If he can not play on the big slow blokes and lacks the speed off the mark to intercept then he is going to have an issue I think.
I think he has similar traits to Moore. Just lighter and less developed.Moore is five times more athletic and quicker.

Moore is an athletic freak. Reid isn’t even in the same conversation from that perspective.I think he has similar traits to Moore. Just lighter and less developed.
I still think Zach has good athleticism for his size.Moore is extremely agile for a guy of that height, probably the most all-round athletic guy I've seen over 2m in the AFL (followed by Daniher, who is a more natural footballer IMO).
Reid doesn't have the speed and agility of Moore, but does have a reasonable tank from his combine results and could read play well and kick fairly well from memory.
At Reid's height without particularly noteworthy speed or agility he'll need to have the body strength to stand genuine FF or ruckmen IMO.
Hard to get a read on where he's at physically due to injury and that's he's still been growing since he was drafted. Certainly has actual football ability though, not just a somewhat athletic tall bloke.
