Wasn't expecting a big game but I was expecting him to drop off severely as the game went on, he had great touch and knew how to track the ball. From what I have seen so far himself, mckenzie, garner, wells, harvey, cunnington are a few that have the ability to make the game slow down a bit and stay in control with the ball in hand.

For whatever reason Mason gets marked pretty harshly here.

His kicking skills are excellent, comparatively Garner has only gotten over 13 touches once in his 16 games. Mason had strings of 19, 22, 22 touch games people forget last year. Today would of been Taylor's second best game possession wise.

Yes Taylor has a lot of intangibles, but he also consistently gets 10 touches in a position where his direct opponent usually gets around 25 and provides a huge amount of run.

I think Mason probably makes us a better balanced side until Taylor can start consistently kicking 2-3 goals a game and upping it to around 15 touches as a minimum.

McKenzie? You mean in VFL or years ago?

Marking was excellent. Had a clanger in the 3rd, and missed a gettable goal. Kicked one late (but not so late that it didnt matter, was important). 3 tackles was decent.

Needs to work on his defensive positioning (no surprises there).

Overall I thought he did a great job. Looking forward to him lining up next week.

Was good. And shit.

A real odd game.

He certainly should remove the chip pass into the corridor from his repertoire for the time being.

The overhead marks at full stretch were pretty impressive though. He would have taken another one in the last - in front of the interchanges- if Goldy hadn't crashed into his back.

Overall, a reasonable game for one of our under-exposed youngsters.

This is the critical point.

The issue is whether he can get that time in the near future. Hope he can, somehow.
Has to make the most of the unfortunate hammie strains to garner and jed. Gotta say we are fortinate for mid forward depth. Iam a little more concerned how we may have fared losing a couple of key defenders.

When Taz was down for a bit it was heart in mouth type stuff.

Stays in. If 15 and 1 is his nervous introduction, I'm tipping for more 20 and 2's. We have a lot of players who can go 20 and 2. We don't rely on 1-3 players to impact the scoreboard.

Looking forward to watching him live on Saturday.

And to think Wellsy still hasn't kicked a goal.

When I think goal scorers any of Waite, Petrie, Brown, LT, Higgins, Boomer, JZ, Cunners, Gibson and now Wood. There's 15-20 goals a game there.

We have unrealistic expectations of him.

I think with 100 games this kid will be an absolute beast of a high half forward.

He's probably in a group of 5 players in the side yesterday, with ball in hand, I thought who would create a goal scoring opportunity with a great pass to a leading forward with good vision when they had it in space. The others would be Harvey, Higgins, Wells and Dal Santo. He's in the above group that would consistently hit those targets 75%+ of the time. We need that sort of delivery forward of center.

When you couple that with his contested marking, natural goal scoring and endurance. He should (and deserves) at least a 4-5 game stretch.

We are shooting ourselves in the foot if we don't pump as many games as possible into him this year. Forget life after Petrie/Waite, he will make us a better side NOW when he becomes comfortable with his position in the side.
