And why didn't Arthur or Clarke grab them and say, "Lads, you almost got that 'report' done for me yet? You'll get it done today, right?"

Forgetting the SMS is pathetic, surely you'd do that before it got to that level!

Maybe they though that they were all big boys and should be able to do it on their own?

Questions to self
Is it April 1st? No March 11th

Did Vlad or Phil Rothfield write this story to take the heat out of the drugs in sport ongoing saga? Sadly No.

Conclusion - We are in a lot more trouble than I thought - Michael Vaughan might be right.

whats khawaja meant to bloody write. he hasnt even played a game, what do you want him to write

"explain how to improve the team?"

"ummm **** hughesy off and put me in because im better."

seriously arthur? seriously?

never seen the team become a laughing stock as it is now.

I'm guessing the informal and unprofessional nature of the initial request sent a mixed message that it wasn't very important.
Well, it didn't seem to send that mixed message to the majority of the side which actually honoured the request, did it?

In what world, is a batsman dropped to protect a fast bowler? I've seen plenty of bowlers take the wrap for team losses when it was the batsmen who were most culpable but opening batsmen just don't get dropped because a bowler is performing badly. Hughes got dropped because the powers that be felt that he had been worked out.

He was dropped because MJ had a mental breakdown and they were too gutless to drop him - so they brought Watson in to give them more bowling coverage.

I don't reckon they will. Keep in mind that these guys are the minority. Most of the players did it. These guys are honna learn that you've got to do what the team manager say or suffer the consequences. If it was a permanent axing, then you may have a point, but they will have a chance to make amends in the 4th Test, which you woukd expect they'll try as hard as possible to take.

And most of them probably think it's pathetic, but toed the line anyway.

I doubt this will inspire any positivity - I'm all for making a stand, but not for something as pathetic as this.

The same Hughes who has done everything, and more, that was asked of him after he was dropped to protect Johnson - and did it all without a hint of petulance or complaint?

The same Hughes who CA wouldn't allow time to spend with his Coach in an effort to help him come to grips with the conditions in the most hostile and unusual away series we play?

And the same Hughes who wasn't picked against SA to get protected against Steyn and co. And look how terrific that has turned out. His been given more opportunties to cement his spot in the test team then previous batsmen yet his technique fails everytime. Oh but I forgot "His hitting them well in the nets"...

It's not hard to spot the guys youd want to work alongside with, and the freeloading, blame everyone else for not getting your job done flogs in this thread

I wouldn't waste time analysing stuff when it's related to sports teams and fans. Sports fandom turns reasonable people into nutjobs.

SOS to the following people. Joe Burns(coming off ton), Ash Agar(coming off michele and his shield batting average of 42??? for a #9!?!?), coulter nile maybe? copeland? hazelwood? hastings? jonathon wells? this tour could end up being one of the worst in recent memory

If they thought they were big boys, they wouldn't have asked them to do something so pathetic to start with ;)
Yeah, it's pathetic asking professional sportsmen who have been utterly humiliated to do a bit of self-analysis and suggest where improvements in performance could be made......

And I doubt one tenth of the keyboard warriors who call Watson 'soft' could have been through the injuries he's had over the years and kept coming back in an attempt to make it at the highest level. If anything, it shows he is a pretty strong person IMO.

#hatersgonnahate

Watson got every single match payment during that time as it is considered that he would have been playing every single match. He was on a packet when he wasn't even a walk in for the team, not hard to comeback from that.

This is quiet possibly the funniest thing I ever seen happen to the Australian Cricket Team and I remember watching Scott Muller

The fact they were meant to send their views over text message is completely irrelevant*, the issue is that they couldn't complete the absolute bare minimum as asked by the coach. It doesn't matter if it's unprofessional, it doesn't matter if it's pointless, they should be doing whatever it takes. Khawaja is especially worrying, considering he is trying to get INTO the team.

*While it was said that all they had to do was send their views over text message, it was my interpretation that this was the bare minimum they had to do to satisfy the coach. They could've obviously submitted the 3 things any way they liked.

yeah

1. Build partnerships/bowl to team plan
2. Stay positive
3. Don't play the sweep/don't bowl down leg
