dearest cricket australia, im recently coming off a 75 in club cricket which was an innings of depth and class. im also handy with the ball with my medium fast seamers and will provide energy in field. no stress fractures as yet. perfect homework submission so i wont miss the due date. have a slight weakness with spin bowling, but so does half the side. call me maybe?

Very silly move by Watson.

Toys were definitely thrown out of his pram.

Perhaps its another Clarke issue? Or am I reading into it a little too much here.

Definitely something going on with Clarke/Watson/Arthur. The fact that Watson didn't do what was required and as the vice-captain is ringing some alarm bells.

Moises? You are already over there :p

You seem hung up on the mode of delivery.......if it was by text, just bloody do it.
Because its hardly fair to bag the players for being unprofessional when the coach isn't.

I would not reply analysis by text to my boss regardless if that's what he asked for. I'd call or meet him, or last resort send an email.

Yes, but they know as well as anyone that it's ridiculous, and thus they're going to respect the hierarchy even less than it appears they currently do.

Who are? They players who didn't do a relatively simple task as required? Won't matter, because they're in the minority and won't be in the team.

The same Hughes who has done everything, and more, that was asked of him after he was dropped to protect Johnson - and did it all without a hint of petulance or complaint?

The same Hughes who CA wouldn't allow time to spend with his Coach in an effort to help him come to grips with the conditions in the most hostile and unusual away series we play?

In what world, is a batsman dropped to protect a fast bowler? I've seen plenty of bowlers take the wrap for team losses when it was the batsmen who were most culpable but opening batsmen just don't get dropped because a bowler is performing badly. Hughes got dropped because the powers that be felt that he had been worked out.

What's the obsession with Hughes?

He's a crab.

I don't reckon they will. Keep in mind that these guys are the minority. Most of the players did it. These guys are honna learn that you've got to do what the team manager say or suffer the consequences. If it was a permanent axing, then you may have a point, but they will have a chance to make amends in the 4th Test, which you woukd expect they'll try as hard as possible to take.

So why didn't the four concerned just do that then?

2009
When they wanted Watto to open.

But if they thought sending a text was dumb, why couldn't one of the players have talked to Arthur on the saturday and given a verbal report? Or called his phone?

They are staying at the same hotel right?

I had not read that. Pretty laughable.

You have to wonder how hard it would be to put them all in a room for 20 minutes and have a frank discussion and not leave until everyone has a say.

Bingo, emails can be gutless - texts are even worse.

What is this cowardly bullshit?

Sit them down with the Captain and the Coach, and have the discussion - either individually, or as a team.

This is just pathetic.

Morale will be at rock bottom in the team camp now. Reminds me of when Ray Illingworth tried being heavy handed in the England camp and killed the team morale stone dead.
It robbed us of watching David Gower play tests for another five years.:(

Yes, Hughes got dropped because they wanted someone else to open. Watson didn't bowl much in the Ashes 2009, he did **** all in the way of bolstering the bowling.

No matter how you look at it, the Australian cricket team is judged by its on field performance, and it's the old saying, if you don't respect yourself, you can't respect anyone around you.
There has been little pride in Australia's on field performance for a long time now, and it's obvious that there is a gulf between players and administration.........which is a reflection on the current playing group.
How about rising above incompetent management, making a stand and making a statement through their performances
