Doesn't surprise me. I was going to steal it and claim it, but decided I couldn't be bothered.

Should of. That masterpiece took me 10 minutes.

Remember the episode where Homer ran for Sanitation Commissioner and his motto was "Can't Someone Else Do It?"?

That's pretty much the internet's approach to comedy.

And disciplining them is the way to put them back on the right track. "Everybody's doing it" isn't a reason to abrogate personal responsibility.

Who gets punished for not selecting Lyon in the second test? Who gets punished for Clarke pretending all is well while he bats at 5? Who gets punished for making players feel uncomfortable and leave the national side earlier than they would like? Who gets punished for rotating players in and out at the expense of the team? Who gets punished for putting players under pressure in the media?

Apparently a Watson was fielding one day and he came off the field and was rubbing the inside of his leg, the Arthur said stop being soft and get back out there, Watson did and then does a full blown injury. That'd be a sackable offence in the work place right?

Who says they are not? Stop deflecting. It's not a question of whether it's the management or the players at fault. All I took issue with is your idiotic claim that people are more inclined to blame the players than the administrators. This thread is plenty of evidence that the reverse is true.

Where did I say that?

No, it is your analogy that doesn't have a point. I'm critical of many players position in the side and so are many other people. I am also critical of the selection policy, people who are in charge of that and the administrators that run the game. There is no analogy to soldiers returning from war that fits this situation or that has ever fitted this situation.

If they don't get along; and if that is causing problems/disharmony within the team; and/or if that is affecting the performance of the team as a result.....

Then it is an indictment on the pair of them.

Well there weren't many other options for captain and vice captain with Clarke and Watson the two most senior players in a team full of inexperienced noobs but if they don't get along it might have been better off to pick a less experienced vice captain that got along with Clarke. There aren't many other players guaranteed a spot in the side though, Warner is probably next in line but even his spot isn't rock solid.

Bailey's leadership would be handy but you couldn't make him test captain or vice captain without playing a test.

I love how the only player who seems to be preparing correctly and performing is the one who is the problem.

I also love how people are still clinging to that hilariously implausible chain email just to justify their weird hatred of Clarke.

Misinformation is notoriously hard to correct, especially when people are so eager to run with heresay and conjecture without fact checking. It's perplexing that so many can be absolutely sure about their knowledge of the dynamics inside Australia's dressing room, especially when said knowledge is usually gained through a notoriously unreliable medium like the internet. Clarke is a polarising figure, and his detractors will always emerge as soon as there is even the slightest hint of blood in the water.

I have faith in Arthur and Clarke, and until I see strong evidence to the contrary that compromises that faith, my opinion won't change.

I'd put Cowan as VC for England
And have Bailey and Voges in the squad.

Not a bad move. Ed just needs to work on staying in the team, although I think he will be well suited in England. He's probably a good move as VC if there are problems within the team. Not the sort of bloke to rub others the wrong way like Clarke and Watson.

Remember the days when we would win a series 3-0 and the lads would just go get loaded after a win? I miss that. I miss being a good cricket team.

I've defended Clarke alot, but I think this is partly his fault. As much as he is a great batsman and a very good captain on field, he seems to rub people the wrong way. The three major ones I can think of are

Watson - I back Clarke over Watson. Watson has shown what kind of bloke he is with his reaction to this whole saga. Personally I'm happy for him to stay away from the test team and become a T20 whore.

Katich - Seems like both where in the wrong here. A while ago but I know too little to make an informed comment on this one.

Hussey - This one, from everything I've read and heard is the big one. This split the dressing room in half and is what I believe is the core of this problem. And Huss isn't the type to be involved in this. What I, and I presume alot of you guys have heard, is all bad from Clarke in this one. 100% contributed to the Lyon dropping.

The main thing I believe is we are not winning. If we were this wouldn't be a major problem.

I'd have Wade as VC personally. He's entrenched in the team IMO and has a lot of c*** about him.

Can you imagine if Wade actually had to captain the team?

Warner's the most likely pick anyway.

Sidebar: While doing a bit of googling about our current players today I noticed this stat:

Number of test centuries by Shane Watson + number of test centuries by Phil Hughes = Number of test centuries by Marcus North

Are bad attitudes and temper tantrums and laziness OK when we are winning?

As long as we win I couldn't care less what everyones 'attitude' is like. I'm sure half the blokes in our golden era didn't like each other, but they manned up and did their job.

Let's be honest cricket doesn't demand great 'attitude' like most sports. It's very unique like that.

Cowan should be axed before the ashes. He isn't international standard unfortunately.

Drop the one guy in the top order that places any value on his wicket. That'll end well.

Stuff it, promote Maxwell to open and bat Haddin at 4 and Smith at 5. Surely one of those will come off... right?

You need to maintain the right attitude in the good times because it's a lot harder to create one in the bad times.

New captain thanks. This one is a terrible on and off field leader. He's trying too hard to imprint himself on the team after Ponting and hence why he got the older players noses out of joint.
Let's go through potential options:
"Davey" - you hate him/don't think he should be in the team
Pattinson - played 9 tests
Those 2 are the only automatic selections outside Clarke

Tend to agree. I like the way he's always the guy fronting up to the media after a shit day and he's probably showed the second most fight behind Clarke with the bat.
