Since we got rid of Thoolen it leads me to wonder whether we'll use 77 or use our PSD pick thoughts?

If we use it on a ND selection, I hope it's on a bottom aged midfielder like Rounds, he looks very promising and would have plenty of upside.

Having said that, it seems odd that we'd give Sydney our #61 only to delist Thoolen (which I'm sure we would have planned on prior to trade week) and have to use #77.

Not really in my opinion. At that stage, someone like Hine would probably have a smoky in mind that he would expect not to necessarily go the next pick (ie as early picks would). So you can afford to trade down a little bit there.

If that's the case why not wait for the rookie draft. The fact that we traded our packaged Rhyce and our forth round for an extra thrid round probably suggests we wanted four picks inside top 50 and that would be it. Delisting Thoolen this late (after we'd already announced all the delistings) suggests there was possibly someone in the PSD who they wanted and needed to make room for. Either that or going through draft tapes etc they decided there was someone they really wanted that late in the draft and someone needed to make way.

id say we delisted him late because a recent delisting from another club and has impressed hine and we r looking to pick him up in the preseason. there have been 1 or 2 surprise delisting by clubs in the last fortnight

This is what I think. Given Tom Hislop was quite highly rated only 2 years ago and we have lost in the last 2 years, Buckley, Burns, Licuria & Holland all in and under mids (only really Stanley coming through as untried in the middle as a clearance specialist) I wouldn't be surprised if we opted for him.

Apparently he knocked back a 1 year deal from the Bombers. You wouldn't think a young fella would do that if he hadn't had a better offer money wise and/or opportunity wise elsewhere.

Pick # 73 Tom Hislop

It is a similar scenario to the one that saw Chris Bryan end up at Collingwood. He was said to have "attitude problems" and knocked back a one-year deal from Carlton before being picked up by Collingwood in the PSD.

I reckon they might go for Hyslop also and probably end up re drafting Thoolen on the rookie list.
Not logical to dump him after one season.

Thoolen was rather shit though.

I held more hope for LCL (albeit very little) and he got the arse as well
