He is putting together a great season. 40 goals so far and currently in the top 10. Imagine if we didn’t play him back a few times this year.

I can’t believe it’s taken so long to keep him there. One of our most reliable kicks and he also uses his body well in one on one contests.

This guy is having such a good season. I remember one of the coaches early in his career saying that he was the guy you'd want kicking for goal after the siren, and it's so true. He's Mr Reliable in front of goals.

Something that has surprised me is his contested body work, both in the marking contest and in general play. I'm not sure if he's increased his strength or football IQ, but whatever it is, it means he hardly loses a 1:1 contest.

If I were coach I'd fully lean into it and assign him as the club's Full Forward for the next few years.

Heard them discussing this on triple M last night on the way home. You can mount a solid case…

Top 10 for goals but top 3 for goals and assists which puts him up with the likes of Tom Hawkins and someone else who I can’t be bothered remembering.

Not bad considering he has also pinch-hit down back.

Even just that bit of play where the Sydney defender was hedging his bets between Kyle and Sammy...he waited, and waited, then released the handball at the ideal moment, making it an easy goal.

Smart play, well worked through, yet easy to stuff up in the pressure of the game.

On one hand we should have made the switch years ago, on the other hand was his development around the ground key in him becoming the player he is now?

Should we be developing other forwards like Voss and Jones with significant midfield minutes in the vfl to improve their tank, their second efforts and the amount of ball they get?

No.

He’s always been a natural forward. He gets how to run to space to attract the footy. He has a great pair of hands on the lead. He’s a deadly straight kick for goal.

Any minor benefits in him being thrown all over the place are more than offset by not allowing him to develop his game as a forward.

Play them where they play their best footy and let them get better at it.
