He stays in. There were a few occasions he won a crucial ball and is a clean one touch footballer.
I tend to agree. Would I like more output, sure. But he bobs up just a touch shy of 1 goal a game and unlike some others he rarely wastes the 1 chance he gets in a game. Tackles hard, gets to the right spots. He's not sewn up a role for the next few years but position his to lose for now.

Bit of papley about him with that celebration energy you speak of
Yep - it’s infectious.
When we’re contending (touch wood) reckon he’ll become a handful for opposition defences.

i think hes still having a great impact whenever hes involved in the play.

theres a lot of scrutiny on his stats but you have to look at his game time too. he is putting up decent numbers for his position and game time.

i brought this up 2 months ago and some posters suggested he is just being eased into things to start the season. 56% again today.

id like to see him stay on the field longer but i have to assume they have good reasons for this.

He had seven bloody tackles and a goal mate.

That would be Mahoney’s crowning achievement.

Can you remember many of those seven tackles?

Tackles can tell you one or two things:

1. A player is a maniac who has fought hard to physically impact
2. Player is second to the ball

Nothing konstsanty did stood out. One scrubby goal but that’s it

A tackle is a tackle.
He’s doing his job to lock the ball down in our forward half. It’s not significant that the tackles aren’t spectacular.
Yes it would be great to see him accumulate more but by increasing f50 pressure he’s playing a key role in addressing one of our defining failures of 2024.

Kicked a goal and had 6 tackles playing in our forward line. 18 pressure acts.

The least of our problems right now.
Lead our tackle count according to the AFL stat thingy, bloke is far from a problem, and with only around 67% game time. A handy set of steak knives.

He doesn't have a quality issue which makes the Turner comparisons a bit silly but boy does he wander off during games. It's been too regular too ignore. Not sure what the fix is.

He certainly has trouble staying involved. He was everywhere early, then nowhere.

Experience? Fitness? Just not great? Dunno.

I haven’t looked at his stats but just via the eye test I actually felt yesterday was one his better games, thought he played further up the ground and either linked up and or mopped up a couple of coast to coast movements via a contest. Could be wrong.

Young small pressure forward in a weak side goes missing for parts of games, I am shocked to be sitting here.

Desperately needs a partner like Banch.

Has far better disposal than Turner.
