When he’s on the inside his heave kicks are more acceptable because of the pressure he’s under. Really hope they are selling him the dream of what life will be like when Cotch retires and he doesn’t ask for a trade
If he keeps playing like that he'll play every game and won't have a reason to leave.

I'm sure he's watching the CCJ situation and realises the grass isn't always greener.

Surprise ****ing surprise…plays as an inside mid and plays well.
coaching staff are really on notice for me.
trying to turn the kid into a wingman and playing soldo as a sub.

Some very healthy numbers there. Needs to work on his tackling but yeah, impressive.
Depends on what he was asked to do, might of been instructed to hunt the ball and not worry about his man he is still young so plenty of time to add those extra parts to his game

Showed he can win his own ball today that’s the most important part

Seems to have cleaned up his kicking too 👍

Mr Magic are you convinced now?

Convinced of waht?

The whole game did not convince me by the team.

Can't see him being delisted this year, hopefully he grows and develops even further

Its not about possessions for me, I am not a stats guy, I prefer wins across the park, even one percenters

I think he needs to get fittter. Not saying he is unfit, but to play on a premiership team and develop he will need to get fitter probably

Wow blooy hell give the kid some credit will you and admit he had a bloody good game

25 touches going at 84% De from 74% game time and 6 clearances with 9 contested poss playing against a top midfield that includes
Selwood , Guthrie , Duncan , Menagola , Guthrie & Smith who all have about 2000 games experience between them

for a 21 year old kid with just 40 games to his name did a bloody good job
sure he will have parts of his game to improve but he was a bloody 3rd rounder not a top 10 pick

Sometimes we just need to acknowledge players who play well rather than bag them for no reason

Honestly, I am just annoyed we got beat. Being a Tigers supporter I was focussed on us and not specifically Ross.

I give credit when credit is due.

Baker had a good game

Ross did not stand out to me, I am not saying he had a bad game. He did not look slow at times if you wish to count that. Rioli Jnr did a few nice things, I liked the goal he kicked under pressure to put us in front late, Bolton and Lynch took some good marks.

would you like me to make thing ups??

I will look at the replay shortly

I am not interested if he did a bloody good job. Baker did a bloody good job and showed desperation. Stengle and Henry showed desperation in the last minute to beat us.

If I see things that can be handy by Ross in a premiership calibre team I will let you know.

I am not writing him off, I am just saying possession means little to me, rather decisions and precision is ore relevant.

For example Clarkes goal on his non preferred was good and recognised by me.

I liked Picketts three or four marks in a short period on the flank. That was very good from Pickett!!!

When have I bagged him? I said he could get delisted like a heap of others. Did you ask if I rate the Geelong players?? I rated smith in trading forum but he is a winger not a clearance player.

I am not interested in possessions with percentage efficiency, they are BS stats to me

The commentary team said Baker was probably the biggest tryer in the AFL. He always has a go and gives great effort. If Ross is seen as vanilla do you not think he should not try and emulate Baker as a tryer, after all he has been two to three years in the system and only get so many chances??

I have never played super coach. I do not accept the algorithm as a superior assessment to human observation.

Mathew Lloyd supposedly said Vlastuin was our best player. I saw Vlastuin drop a pressured mark that resulted in the first goaL against us and got caught holding the ball where Guthrie kicked a point lucky not to be a goal within the first five minutes not counting other contests that went against us

People need to understand I am not here to sing kum ba ya, I am here to support our next premiership tilt. Ross might be a part of that but it will not be handed to him, he will have to earn it because we need improved efforts to beat our opposition to achieve the prize

To use a analogy, I am not interested in stats men like Russell Westbrook that can rack up triple doubles in the right set-up. I am interested in guys that create and make decisions and execute so the most effective team output is realised against all the oppositions to win premierships

You do not get gold stars from me saying he had 25 disposals with 84 percent efficiency. You need to say I liked the tackle he made on Guthrie and the handball he made to Edwards under pressure on the wing just before Prestia touched it and got cleaned up by Stewart. I deal in real life scenarios, not BS aggregated stats. At the end of the day I am not here to say great job Ross you had 25 disposals at 84 percentage. He should call me a tosser. One should be saying good effort on that tackle and extraction to Edwards keep it going, thats what we are looking for so he can grow and improve and win more premierships because from pinpoint communication he is enabled to address specific actions he can control

But if Baker was on Stengle, Baker had a shit game. Not sure who was on Stengle at different times

I finished watching the replay. I not here to bag Ross but if you are forcing me to critique his game I would rate it satisfactory to good. It was not flawless. In the last quarter after the Ralphsmith kick out Lynch handballed to him where he duffed the kick and in the centre the Geelong player broke from his attempted tackle where he kicked to Stengle who kicked to Henry resulting in the last goal for Geelong. I am not here to nit pick though and Baker's game was not flawless either because apart from being caught with the ball earlier he was chasing Stengle in the last moments when Stengle kicked the ball to Henry for the last goal. Having said all this Ross did some nice things in tight and on the flanks in the 3rd and fourth quarter. I think what Ross needs to acknowledge is he does not do brilliant things. That is okay, not everyone has to. He is a more inside player but being a bit more vanilla he needs to focus on winning the ball, disposing the ball well, and making good decisions regularly. It might be possible for him to get more impact down the track from his possessions with more development, but if he ups his endurance he can get to more contests and be stronger in more contests. Ross contributed well to the team last night and definitely was not the reason we lost. Does he get a game next week? Probably especially with Cotch out but I see it as role specific and he kicked a goal as far as giving cause for RFC putting a bit more development in his game, not that I do not think they would be anyway

The problem is we only have 2 inside mid positions. So until Cotchin retires, he wont get one of them. Even if he has a massive game next week, I dont see how he holds the position when Cotch and Prestia are available this season.
