Well he was dropped/sub so there is a fair chance they are rating him as so, or thereabouts when you consider team spots and what we can or can't drop for team balance. That will be hard now, so safe for another game or two...

To me they have always seemed to undervalue his worth. They have valued him because they have tried to change his position to keep him in the side, or next in, but he came in as a mid and was so good in his first season. He had Martin, Cotchin, Prestia, Edwards in front of him so they tried to re-invent him. It has worked to a point because he is a very good footballer. Be nice to seem him back in the guts at some stage.
That’s why I say it’s a worry , you drop a bloke and it was questionable and then is amongst best 5 on ground , what’s that say about their decision

'things to work on'... well you could say that about many players. I think he is easier to drop that say Graham, MacIntosh, Pickett etc, who are pencilled in every week, not arguing that point, but the established players get a hell of a lot more leeway than those trying to establish themselves. Mini has a bit of Hardwick in him perhaps in that he is very loyal.

In a ledger, Ross in my eyes has a lot more going for him than he has things to work on.

Bit of mixed bag from him today but has a good little side step on him and becoming quite the smooth mover, Pendles comparisons are still a bit far fetched but can see why some might see glimpses.:thumbsu:
And he will stand under a high ball, his marking stats rate in the Elite for his position

From pure inside when drafted, to a very good winger, you dont see that very often.

The club certainly got it right with his development and focus on outside ball.

If only they could do the same with Dow.

Might have to rethink my opinion on him. He just keeps improving and is getting some big numbers
Have always thought of him as decent cover sitting just outside top 22.
He really has improved his decision making with ball in hand , seems to have plenty of time too for a guy that doesn’t have big leg speed .

Another really good game from Ross. Aside from the improvement in his disposal and decision making, he now seems to be able to push back or forward when required which shows his tank has also improved. He gets to the right spots and is finding more of the ball. If he's not firmly entrenched in the best 22 now, then I'm watching a different game.

I'd actually try him again at center bounces given the form hes in, we've got nothing to lose and I think he'd out perform Hopper right now.
He couldn’t do the grunt work that Hopper is doing IMO

Hopper uses his monster size beautifully in the clinches which clearly goes unnoticed.

Hoppers been good, I just wanna win more clearances, Ross could be an answer
You could be right but we are the best at clearances we’ve been in years

Rapped in Ross's improvement. I wonder if he is getting sucked into the play a little more than the coaches would like? But his positioning and poise around the ball is really starting to shine for us. 50+ games in and it is showing, he knows what to do in each situation ahead of time now. He was terrific v the Hawks, especially in some key passages late.
