Before even thinking about a replacement for Jack Ross people need to think about what it takes to complete a season for a team.

Most teams use 30-35 players in a season and teams now have starting 23 players
Depth is the key in all area's on the ground and it takes just 4-5 injuries in our midfield/wing area before we are tapped out and struggling to have these players to play their position and you would struggle to find any team during a season to have any less than 8-10 players on their injured list

List your teams including emergency's of 10 players then tell me if Jack Ross is worth a list spot

Jack Ross should be playing Meatballs role. But they stick with the old guy as an on field coach etc.

jack will get his spot soon enough - especially if he can move his ordinary games up to closer to his good ones.

If Sonsie kicks a goal during a game will there be cheers or boos? I've always wondered.
If someone boo'd one of our own players during a game after they did something positive they’d be copping it from me big time. We’d be going home in the back of a divvy van

There are a couple of flogs on this board that will be Booing 100%
Lord of the shits comes to mind along with a dopey mopp

I disagree with the suggestion that Ross has no attributes that stand out. To me he is measured against Hopper and Taranto in that he is not overly quick and is about their size. But that is where the comparisons end in my opinion.

For one he has a good turning circle, so he is quite nimble over a short distance, Hopper and Taranto are not, although Hopper has a good fake and balk which sometimes buys him time.

Ross has very good distance on his kicks, but also kicks with some penetration and hits good passes. His kicking has improved so much over the last year or so due to confidence. He started with creative kick before he was mucked around with. Hopper and particularly Taranto are awful kicks.

Ross was our leading score assist player in '25 over Hopper then Campbell, but his gaol assists per game were way above the others 0.65 vs Hopper 0.39 and Campbell 0.27. (Dusty went at 0.6 goal assists over his career). He has a very creative handball because he doesn't hot potato it and dish it to someone under pressure but holds on, absorbs the tackle and gives it too advantage mostly.

He is a very similar player now to what Prestia was a few years ago, not nearly as good, but he connects up play and distributes it well. He is not coalface, but we need that linking player now that Prestia has gone backwards.
Good post. Agree he needs to play that Prestia role

Well he did play in a premiership on a wing in 2019.....
He did, but he could have played CHF in that team and we would have won the flag.

Exactly. So saying 'we'll never win a flag with Ross in the team' is silly. Of course we could
That's right. He very easily could have been picked in that 2019 grand final. We still would have won by plenty.

Ross could make it to 150+ games and potentially be a part in our next flag tilt. That's best case scenario from here I think. This talk of Sonsie being some sort of role in our future success is just bullshit. I don't know how the **** he is still on our list. He is soft as **** and the very opposite of a damaging player. If a team offered pick 136 for him in next years draft I'd take it
