With the wins still rolling on, and fairly good form by those we brought in after him, it might just be the case of playing it safe.

If he was to come back, last week and this week were probably smack bang on it. Since we are not playing top 8 sides they probably have good cause to leave him out anyway and just stay cautious.

Dont think there is necessarily any additional issues going on.

I'd hazard a guess that he's recovered from the most recent hammy injury and he's now mid way through a major hamstring/lower back strengthening and conditioning program aimed at avoiding further issues henceforth.
The exchange of smiles with Brad suggested they're not too concerned.

He was always going to be a risky pick long term because he is that mercurial type, that can turn a game with limited possessions. However he has shown that he has all the attributes to be an AFL player but his injuries haven't allowed him to get any continuity in his game. After playing early on in his career I would have thought he would be developing into a midfielder by this stage but because he has had so many injuries it hasn't allowed us to develop his body and Tank enough to allow him to do that.

Spot on. And the linking of possessions to performance is just plain old school, especially for a small forward. I want to see our small forwards make opposition defenders feel rushed and uncomfortable from the first quarter and create opportunities for the side - and he does that in spades. Even if a player has 30 touches, the time spent having and disposing of the ball is probably around 3 minutes tops in a game that goes for 120 minutes. So what is that player doing the rest of the time? I like what I see with Garner in that respect - he has real acceleration and is very hard at the ball and player - intangibles that set the tone.

He can also take a mark when he needs to although he's disciplined enough to get front and square to the big forwards.

Needs to add a few more strings to his bow imo.

Lays hard tackles, but hasn't got much else up his sleeve.

Apart from his proven ability to take big park marks yet also soccer a winning goal. His delivery inside 50 is utterly sublime. Has ultra quick hands in close to.

Jed Anderson (hamstring) and Taylor Garner (hamstring) could also return.

“We will see how Jed and Garner train,” Walsh said.

“They should be ready to do a full week of training and if they get through OK they could play.”

One of these two in for Nahas immediately makes us a better side.

Would love to see Garner and Wood into the side for nahas and Dumont (very stiff I know), and unleash boomer into the middle. Could do with his class and decision making in there over there best few weeks, especially with Higgins out.

Garner was performing no better than what Nahas is now so there is no chance he comes straight back in.
Anderson has played 11 games of AFL footy over 4 years so there is no chance he comes back in after 10 weeks off with a hammy.

Disagree. Garner's prescence and physicality in the forward line gives a lot more than Nahas

I really like(d) Nahas' effort levels over the last couple of years, but have been ultra disappointed with what he has brought to the party this season. I seriously think he has missed 6 really easy goals and has fumbled and bumbled his way through the games he has played. In saying that if there is any doubt on the hamstring boys then one more week of Nahas against his old mob would be OK.

What are you disagreeing with? I never mentioned anything about the physicality of both players.

I agree.
In my opinion Nahas has been very disappointing this year. it's not through lack of effort but his output is well down.

All i'm saying is that there is no chance Garner or Anderson come straight back into the senior side which was a response to some of the previous post saying they should.

If SS is happy that that a reoccurrence is extremely unlikely I think Garnwr or Anderson, even underdone, will offer more than Nahas, and a run against the Tiges will stand whomever comes in, in good stead for the games leading up to the bye.

You said Garner was performing no better than what nahas is now. That's what i disagree with. His prescence and physicality, on top of his aerial ability, were reasons he was performing better than what Robbie is now. Robbie has been very underwhelming. Contributes little

Garner off a full preseason was on the verge of being dropped before breaking down.
Anderson is an interesting one, none of us really know what he's capable of, but i think he still should come through the twos.

I suspect it's a non issue this week anyway as i expect them both to miss anyway.

If we want speed and tackling pressure(we need it) i'd be happy with Mountford or Wagner to coming in.

Hes going to need 1 game in the VFL at least. Even Wells with only 2 weeks off looked off his game against the Swans compared to earlier in the season

Ok, that's not what you said.
Nahas should be dropped this week like Garner should've been but his hammy going saved us from making that decision.

Garner has much much more to offer us than Nahas but his form was very ordinary early in the year other than one crunching tackle and a great overhead mark.

Anyway back to my original point garner or anderson shouldn't and won't come straight back in.

And again Nahas should be dropped this week.

I think the problem we have is we dont actually have any experienced small forwards other than Lindsay. Garner isnt really a small crumbing forward, neither is Anderson. Turner is being groomed for one but it's a work in progress. Nahas for all his flaws is actually a small forward - not a great one but one with experience and some pace at times.

Wagner is the one I hope comes on in leaps and bounds. He moves like a small forward and has fantastic forward pressure.

I want to see Garner as a Leigh Adams type - tough, uncompromising who plays some midfield time and hopefully kicks regular goals

The only way Nahas gets dropped is if Garner or Anderson come in.

You won't get much support but I tend to agree.
