Tough clearance player with a good sidestep, poise, a smart kick and leadership potential. Reminds me more of Lenny Hayes more than Williams.

Tuohy is our candy seller. Fortunately though even when he does get caught he can usually break the tackle.

The Diesel remark is in reference to Cripps' vision. Not much point being able to get hands to ball if you're only going to turn it over.
Cripps seems to be able to work out a situation immediately and then execute quickly. You can't teach that.

I'm usually pretty critical of highlights packages because they can make any player look like a gun, but i'm genuinely impressed with his hands and vision from what i have seen. Just seems to have that 6th sense (spoiler: no, not seeing dead people), where he can be under pressure from 2 guys and still fire a 15m handball out to a guy he shouldn't even know is there. Even more impressive is that handball can go to his advantage where he doesn't even need to break stride. Seriously impressive. In fact even more impressive than watching highlights of an outside player streaming forward and hitting the FF lace out.

I'd name Yarran. Poetry in motion with his poise and awareness. Twice he ducked past two or three Magpies to find Kreuzer. Glides past them like an oiled up Groundskeeper Willie. Fav goal was the one where he ducked into trouble, only to find a way past Toovey and the rest to kick across his body under pressure.

Hendo by far sells the most candy.
Yarran does it in traffic and in the one motion. Other players telegraph it. I'd be shitting bricks if I was goal side of Yarran. Once turned Ablett around like he was Mclean. Hits the ball at top pace like before baulking and scooting away.

Malthouse welcomes Cripps to Carlton
“I knew the chances of me staying in WA were not great and if I could have picked any interstate team to go to I would have picked Carlton,” he said.

“I got a few calls from people at Carlton and a few of the players messaged me.

“I got a phone call from Mick which was a little surreal because he is such a great coach and to be thinking he is now my coach is awesome.

“I am looking forward to getting over there and trying to help the team out any way I can.”

Don't normally get this excited about a draftee, but gee this kid is impressive.
Going to have to get down and watch the Northern Blues early next year.

Same. A midfield with Cripps, Bell and Robinson winning the ball to start things off will bring us into the game against the teams that have bullied us for years. There's a few others like Tuohy, Curnow Graham, Holman and Cachia that will provide plenty of physicality too.

When clubs watched Patrick Cripps play this season they saw a tall, big-bodied midfielder who excelled at winning the ball from stoppages. But it was when they sat and talked with him that another great attribute shone through.

The 192cm, 90kg midfielder is considered a born leader and has drawn praise from coaches from his junior days in Northampton and from those who watched his outstanding 2013 under-18 championships campaign.

"I feel like I'm a natural leader in terms of I like making things happen rather than waiting, sitting back and watching," he said.

"So it's good to get that positive feedback."

"I think my game style is contested ball and clearance work," Cripps said.

"Quick and clean hands, making good decisions.

"I don't really like to compare to people but game-style wise I watch Jobe Watson a bit, take a lot off him and how he works around the contested ball."

For those that have seen him this year, should we be expecting to see him debut in 2014?
I just get the feeling he'll pick up the tempo of VFL footy quickly and be knocking down the door for senior selection perhaps in the second half of the year.

Intriguing
Just went to club site and barring headshots, they have finally added details of our new boys.
Height and weight for the newly traded, Giles, Holman, Wood, Johnson, the Ciarans....but...
No physical stats for Cripps and Reynolds (do have birthdates etc).
Worse than a bloody soapie.

The question remains, how big is The Extractor?

It's always hard to say by looking at the boys at training but he Cripps didn't look 192+ to me but that may be because of the immature body and the somewhat crouched running style.

Giles didn't look 195 to me either. Holman was the player that looked pretty tall though.
