As I was in hospital from Saturday through to Wednesday, I knew the result of the game well before I watched it yesterday, and would like to think that what I say below isn't based on the emotion of losing at all.
2. Ricky Dyson one of our better players, although that isn't saying much. His last two weeks have been pretty damn good for a certain delisting (by myself included), and if he keeps his form going, there's going to be a lot of pressure on some other players to keep their spot come the end of the year. That kick from the right HFF into the 50 was sublime.
4. Jobe Watson a freak. As simple as that - a genuine superstar.
5. Brent Stanton never stops running, and has taken another step this year. If he keeps his workrate up, he'll become a very, very good player.
6. Angus Monfries struggled a bit with supply, but presented well and worked hard. Will be vital tonight in keeping posession in our forward half.
7. Leroy Jetta was very quiet, and that's presumably because of his knee injury.
8. Jason Winderlich probably our best player, and has become very good this year. He seems to have taken another step from late 2007, and looks confident in his body now.
11. David Zaharakis was pretty quiet again. Kicked another nice goal (although not as important), and may be the one to make way for Prismall in a few weeks' time
13. Andrew Lovett was quiet, but his running ability is so important to us when we are on a roll. Needs to work a bit harder in defence.
14. Sam Lonergan had a bit of a shocker injury wise, and had a forgettable night because of that. Still an important player around the stoppages.
15. Courtenay Dempsey is playing his best footy this year, but still worries me as a defender. Too often he gets caught out of position when the opposition has the ball. This clearly needs some work.
16. Tayte Pears had his best game all year, despite Bradshaw kicking 4. He looks capable of holding down a key position/3rd tall spot in the team for the whole year, even with injuries
18. Matthew Lloyd thank **** his 900th is out of the way. He seems to have been distracted by it all year, and to be honest that isn't good enough for the captain of a football club. I'd expect his output to pick up significantly now, as well as his accuracy.
20. Henry Slattery his best game for the year. Showed his football smarts a few times when running forward (and taking the shot himself after realising his team mate was Jobe
) and also under pressure in the back half. Keeps improving.
23. David Myers his best game for the year as well. While it wasn't a brilliant game, he certainly did enough to keep his spot for another week.
25. Scott Lucas just looks lost out there. I really hope he can come back soon, kick 30 goals for the year, then retire gracefully.
26. Cale Hooker presented well, and gave us a good option in the ruck. He runs forward very well, and looks to be a good depth player for the next few years at worst.
29. Alwyn Davey we need this bloke fit. Simple as that.
30. Paddy Ryder seemed a bit more lacksadaisical against his less highly touted opponent in Clark. I need to see more ANZAC Day performances before I start calling him a superstar.
31. Dustin Fletcher **** we're going to miss this bloke.
33. Adam McPhee had 5 goals kicked on him, but on the other hand kept one of the best forwards in the competition, despite conceding a lot of size, to 5 shots in a game we got dominated in. Not a key defender tbh.
39. Heath Hocking works his arse off every game and is a good player to have in at the contests. Played well on Saturday.
42. Nathan Lovett-Murray seems to lack intensity, and a left foot.
We should have won that game, if we were as sharp as we would have been for a Carlton or Collingwood game.
