Last weeks reduction to fine had not a lot to do with GAJ 300+ games of not being reported but the complex analysis of what actually occurred. Unlike when you get pinged for exceeding the speed limit just and you can ask for an official warning, the AFL aint like that.

We have had the mandate about jumper punches so clearly the MRP must give Gary a week or two so expect an appeal same time, same bat channel lather this week.

Last weeks was frivolous, this weeks more significant. There appears no wriggle room here

It’s no different to last week right?
Therefore MRO gives 1, goes to tribunal and gets off with a fine.
I can’t see why it’ll be any different.

Still has the good record or do the tribunal just go with we don’t trust you anymore and suspend him to make him realise he needs to change his blocking technique?

It’s an interesting case this time around. I don’t think this is a suspendable type of action, it wasn’t last week so shouldn’t be this week, but I won’t be as bothered if he gets suspended as I would’ve been last week.

Two elbows in two weeks, can’t help but think the constant booing is getting to Gary.

Chris Scott invited opposition clubs supporters to boo more after the Hawthorn game because he thrived on it, I thought it was quite weird at the time as playing the villain seems at odds with the rest of Gary’s football career and favourite pastime.

It's too late, he's got a taste for it now.

The resemblance is uncanny...

The 2019 Chook Lotto guidelines say: "Notwithstanding any other part of these guidelines, any Careless or Intentional strike which is of an inherently dangerous kind and/or where there is a potential to cause serious injury (such as a strike with a raised elbow or forearm) will usually not be classified as “Low Impact” even though the extent of the actual physical impact may be low. Such strikes will usually be classified at a higher level
commensurate with the nature and extent of the risk of serious injury involved."............except for when they rule that this doesnt actually apply...
it applied for Dylan Grimes so why shouldn't it apply for gAblett? i agree with other posters. this bloke will keep doing it until he is rubbed out...

Interesting comparison.

Fyfe is low to the ground and ball in picture
Ablett has left the ground and ball no where to be seen.
with Ablett if the ball is not in the vicinity and he has launched himself with his elbow cocked what is his sole intention? it's certainly not to contest the ball...with the fyfe one I think he is bracing for impact and don't think there is too much in it...

Almost identical to last week, so another fine I guess
if it is identical then I think he gets rubbed out by mro and then has to contest at tribunal to get off. he might find it harder to use his good record to get off this time though...

Nothing in it, no-one was hurt, shouldn't even be a fine, free kick is the right result.

Seriously I know its Ablett and everyone wants to see him suspended at the moment but if you want to see players get suspended for trivial stuff like that then don't complain when it happens to the star player on your own team.

What's more amazing is there isn't a thread dedicated to a far worse incident.

We all know why. ;)

You’re correct, we all know why. Fyfe.. low to the ground, bracing for impact, ball in the vicinity, Lynch actually slipped and was going to ground making it look a lot worse than it is, absolutely nothing in it and a careless fine at worst. GAblett.. intentionally changed direction, went at about a 45° to the line he was originally running, and could have easily taken the same steps in the opposite direction of the player, leaves the ground, raised and outstretched forearm, ball had left the vicinity a couple of seconds earlier, clearly intentional this time. All that on top of having the stupidity to do it two weeks in a row.. creating a pattern that needs to be put out before he gets someone good..

I love this. Please keep posting. :drunk:

Gotta be goneski this time around.

That hit was so late it missed the last bus home and is sitting at the terminal having a ciggie waiting for the 6.00am to Moorabool.

Needs to get two weeks. So when it goes to the tribunal and gets downgraded the sniper ablett is giving a week off and no longer eligible for the medal representing the fairest player for the year.

Two weeks in a row he has jumped off the ground, thrown his elbow out and away from his body and made contact with the opposing players head. If he doesn't go this week then the game is an absolute joke.

This thing of insufficient force should not come in to it. His intention was to elbow a bloke in the head and both times he managed to do so. He should not have his penalty downgraded on account of being a fairy with not enough force.

Yes, fantastic player. Can do amazing things with the ball. But a sniper who has elbowed people intentionally in his last two games.

As a Richmond supporter whos player was collected, Im ok with the incidental Fyfe hit. No real malice.

The ablett one though is seemingly a different kettle of fish and hes got a taste for it now.

One punch can kill. Needs to be cleaned up out of the game.
