It was inevitable....hate to say.

Yep I was there today, but I knew before the game that it would take a monumental effort from the Bays to get up. Glenelg had to maximise every chance they got if there were to get up.

They did well in the first half, but their delivery into their forward 50 was terrible bombed the ball in long all day and it just didnt work.

It's like Port all over again, but I honestly believe this dogs side to be the most dominant ever in SANFL history. I can see them having 10 flags within the next five years.

You can't help but admire everything about CDFC, as much as that hurts an Eagles supporter to say. They are hard as nails and very well coached.

If they didn't have the Gowans brothers you could even like them................oh and some of their feral supporters (yes I know all clubs have them).

Is 7 from 9 the best run in SANFL history?? Surely must be close. Apparently after the Doggies were beaten by Port in 95 and 96 they decided to model their club on Port and their creed - ie aggression, toughness, never give up etc. Given Ports, and now the Doggies success, its amazing that other clubs don't copy the model - doesn't seem like rocket science. Why wouldn't you.

Not the best but very close, here is a rundown from a chap on a footy for sa site. ;)

Centrals 7 premierships in 9 seasons 2000-2008

Port Adelaide 7 premierships in 9 seasons 1988-1996

Port Adelaide 7 premierships in 9 seasons 1954-1962

Sturt 6 premierships in 9 seasons 1966-1974

If the Dogs win one more next season, they'll beat the 1988-1997 team from Port, but match the Port team from 1954-1963 who also won 8 in 10 seasons, the best thereafter being 9 in 12 seasons by both those Port sides.

The next best is Sturt with 7 in 11 seasons.

IMO there is a very good chance the era will continue in 2009

out of today's win McCabe has retired, Schell may follow, however Slade and the Gowans have decided to go again in 2009

Today's side had about 6 first time premiership players

Most importantly, Slattery, Switalia, Hadden, Lawry, Cowan, Faulkner and Havelberg all did not play today and will all be atthe club in 2009.

Finally, the club is very close to signing couple very good recruits for 2009

Yeah there is a salary cap. Most clubs find creative accounting to get around it though.

It's also got to do with the type of players you have - Centrals have a lot of very good SANFL players, young and old, who aren't up to AFL standard. Means that, for the most part, they have very little forced turnover in their playing group.

Compare the number of players the Bulldogs have heading off to the draft camp and AFL clubs, with the number of kids gouged out of the West Adelaide talent factory every season, for example.

Turned out to be quite a long day in the end that kicked of nice and early with the U19s. That was a great game featuring Paul Cahill and someone who jo mentioned, Tyler Brymacombe, who were both impressive for Sturt. Peter Weir was also good up forward :thumbsu:

I have heard that as well, I heard that they hired a project officer to study and analyse Fos' book and to find information and methods that they could put into practice at Centrals.

Is there a salary cap in the SANFL. I am sure there is. But Centrals could easily exceed it with the cash they have.

Pokies in one of the poorest areas of Adelaide is a money factory...

There is a salary cap. But there are ways around it, easily done.
