One of the good posters on the draft board has his top 50’s for 2026 and 2027. Has Murray at 11 for 2026 and Bridge at 12 for 2027.

I’ve been thinking lately that Hodge might be a good long term replacement for Starcevich.

Murray needs to start slowing it down. He'll be out of reach otherwise.

So I see our official draft hand heading into the Trade Period is 18, 37, 40, 46, 49, 61, 72.

Based off that, with Annable likely being a top 5 pick, what roughly will that do to our picks / points?

Per my understanding, aside from $ and list spots, Allan and Draper are eligible to be traded without draft picks. I assume Starcevich if he chooses to go will then be a conundrum for WCE. Either it dilutes their likely pick 2 or they need to trade for him, thereby increasing our draft hand / points.

Next, if Adelaide, want Ah Chee, my understanding is they have to trade for him. Is that correct? What would we expect for Cal looking at Crows draft picks (knowing the numbers will changes with free agents / compo), pick 14, 41 and something else or future pick?

I'd say future second rounder is fair for Ah Chee. Maybe a pick swap in our favour.

Starce will depend to an extent on whether the AFL gives WC any draft assistance. Giving them an end of first round pick that they have to trade would be nice.

For a start we have to wait to see where all the compensation picks land, to see where our picks end up.

18 gets pushed back to 20 at least. Our third rounders get pushed back 5 or 6 spots at least.

In regards to the Ah Chee trade, I want that pick 41 as part of any trade, to help with points. Possibly sending 49 (and 61) back.

The change in the dvi means picks after 56 no longer carry points. I haven’t looked at our possible ins and outs at all, but I’d be surprised if we were able to take more than 4 picks to the draft.

Hard to figure it out yet (considering picks moving back and then forward as picks are cashed in). But is the points calculated pre-draft or live as it goes? Assuming the second as normally. But just curious with the picks around the cut off that becomes trickier to assess if they have value or not

Time to get busy guys. 6 players leaving and at this stage only 3 obvious/ confirmed replacements. Might even be some more (Oscar, Tunstil, McKenna)

So I have seen Guessu and McFayden mentioned, anyone else in our academy to think about?

What about some second or third round kids in the open draft? We might end up with some decent picks in this range after Anabelle, considering we are set to recieve some picks for Starce, Ah Chee and maybe even Dev.

We don't mind going against the grain, so if there is a kid we highly rate still available at whatever pick we end up having after the Annable bid, trades, etc, I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick someone completely unexpected and why not, our drafting guys nail it way more often than not.

I remember when hearing the names, Wilmott, Lohmann, Morris, Starcevich, even Bailey called, I was thinking...who? I don't remember much talk at all about some / most of them. Well look at them now.

The list management team would have all this planned to the nth degree, they'd have players they have their eyes on be it in the draft or via trade.

6 players needed at this stage, Oscar Allen, Sam Draper and Daniel Annabel are shoe ins, maybe a mature aged depth tall defender is on the cards and I also like the 2 academy guys you listed.

Is there anyone else in this year's academy that we could possibly get? Even as a rookie?
I believe Waller and Bridge have also been mentioned as potentially being drafted by other teams - but only saw it a couple of times randomly on a board somewhere - not sure if they are on our board high enough / actually likely to be drafted.

I want Cody Curtin but that's just my want as a slider this year to go with Annable, Geesu and McFadyen.

Will be interesting as do we still need to draft 3 players? - or have I gotten that minimum confused.

Daniel Annabel MID 183cm (Vic Point)

Harrison Bridge HBF 181cm (Sherwood)

Raphael Geesu SF 175cm (Vic Point)

Oscar Barry DEF 192cm (Coorparoo)

Isaac Waller Ruck 203cm (Maroochydore)

Fergus McFadyen 3rd Tall 190cm (Lions VFL)

Based purely on need and knowing little about skill level, Bridge and Berry would be useful.
Bridge hasn’t really developed enough over the last 24 months, from my point of view. I’d have Caylen Murray ahead of him now, and the fact Murray played a VFL game this year, highlights this.

Barry has been a role player for the academy, but to my mind, possess very similar attributes to Starcevich.

I’d have Annable and McFadyen as National Draft prospects, and any of the rest as rookie draft prospects.

I suspect this might be a shallower draft this year, with fewer club delistings across the league, and more SSP rookie signings of delisted players this year.

A lot of speculation Port won’t even take a pick in the draft this year, instead they’ll upgrade 3 rookies to their senior list.

There’s a fair bit of talk that next years draft looks pretty strong and deep.

A lot of fans on various club boards are talking about trying to push picks in to next year’s draft. But I don’t see a big market for teams trying to trade a future pick for a pick in this year’s draft.

You guys are forgetting Tyan Prindable. He definitely gets drafted, just likely not at Brisbane.

Harrison Bridge I think probably gets drafted as well, but very small chance he is at Brisbane.

McFayden will get drafted, Brisbane a realistic possibility - especially now with the exits confirmed. The dodgy pick you will get for Starcevich as a parting gift from Swanny will help match bids.

Oscar Barry wouldn't be on the radar at all, nor would Gilder - neither player has addressed their shortcomings.

Geesu has had a shocking run with injury, Lions will run him again as a 19 year old.

Waller is the potential bolter, he is coming hard late. He has some nice attributes and indirectly the performances of Ty Gallop will be helping his stock.

Yeah, I have Prindable on my list. I reckon he'd be second on our priorities list after Annable, partly because Annable is more similar to our other young mids, but Prindable's tackle numbers jump out and might project him more like a Dunkley or Answerth type, which we don't have in the pipeline.

Of course, if Annable goes high, we might well not be able to get him, depending on what we can get back in the Starcevich, Ah Chee and Robertson trades (and any others who want out for more opportunity)

The problems of having a successful academy. It appears we have four very draftable kids, all different types, which is good for us but we cannot draft them all.

We will also be looking at the general pool for talent outside the academy.

So the draftable kids:
Annable a certainty.
Prindable, McFadyen, Waller possibility.
As it stands we have definitive spots for
OA, Drapes and Annable.
I suspect we pulled out of chasing Budarick because it will be tight to bring in our academy kids.

Looks like we may need to let some go.

The point of the academy is not so we can draft them all. It’s also so that we can expand the talent pool accessible to the other teams of the comp.

Then of course those clubs can act as feeder clubs to us when we recruit them back in 2 years.

In essence, the other clubs will become a development arm of the Brisbane Lions at AFL/VFL level.
