I don’t mind that. I don’t think the crow needs to be black as logos aren’t true to life but in this case it does work.

I think with a black crow (and probably even a blue one but for sure this one) a little red in the eye also would look menacing!

Small scale remove the football club est 1990 for sure

I’d be curious to see the overall logo with white frame not yellow (still blue around that but the inner border line). Possibly the yellow looks a bit cluttered where it passes the yellow writing.

Again that may end up being a terrible suggestion and obviously see why you’ve gone yellow as it’d our colour. Could even try red if not want a new colour, but as border I think a thin white line is acceptable (if white I’d go a little thinner than the current line perhaps although hard to say without seeing)

Thanks for the feedback - some really good suggestions; it's all very much trial and error for colour balance, as out primary colours are all so strong. Happy to give it a go this evening.

The other option would be no secondary border, just the blue, that may look like the BLK guernsey with hoops removed though! woukd also reduce clutter though so worth trying too

That's a really good point. It would be great to have some organisation behind the process.

As you ask, what is our intention? Without wanting to start another thread regarding the AFC logo, I think that a fresh thread might help to focus the discussion and debate, and perhaps draw wider input from fans who have become bored and/or disillusioned with the lack of organisation and measurable impact of previous threads. Personally I'd be happy for either of the outcomes that you describe, but would obviously we would all prefer official club endorsement.

Ok... the image on the left is as close as I could get to the red used in the AFC logos, the image on the right is the red from my avatar. Thoughts/preferences?

To my eye, I like the one on the left better, too. However that's really neither here nor there, I'm sure the club has a standard CMYK or Pantone of whatever it is for the colours, and end of the day you just use that in the final version.

I'd also use a plainer typeface for the text, the kerning or whatever the technical term is doesn't work for me, it should be very plain.

Over all : You guys, led by Dank, have done a great job! I really like this as a logo, with maybe just a few tweaks.

It's clean, it's simple, it's a bit old fashioned / traditional. And that last part is important. Too many AFL club logos have been designed or re-designed in recent years to make them, I don't know, more "relevant" or "modern" or whatever. Which is not the point. Footy club logos (badges, really) should be timeless and that means independent of any current design trends.

Has Man United changed their badge to "update" it? Is Essendon's logo better than Collingwood's, because it has been redesigned? No and no.

The logo that Dank Academy has come up with, helped by the little workshop that's going on here, meets that criterion. From that point of view it's better than our original logo, which also dated very quickly because it was a product of the graphic designers at the time.

I agree it does look better but the club will do everything it can to differentiate itself from Port.

I am not that keen on the yellow writing, my only solution would be to try white. It may be stick out to much but the white border might soften that now.

I also like 1990’s idea of removing the bottom red hoop, even just to see what it looks like. Each hoop could be the same size as the blue background of the writing.

I didn't like the RHS one as it looks a bit like Gold Coast's colours to me.

I created a shrinked version View attachment 471614 of the LHS one and think your main version could maybe be tweaked so it scales (to small) better if the bottom red hoop is removed, the remaining red, gold and red hoops are made a bit bigger and pushed downwards, and the crow surrounded by a thicker white boundary. I can have a go at knocking this up if you're tired of making changes
